Review of Blairdhu House
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 Aug 2017
Blairdhu House is in Kyleakin, a small village at the base of the bridge between the Isle and mainland. There is a beautiful view from the patio and lounge. Our room had touches of luxury in the linens, shower, appointments, but was not huge. Breakfast was very good with several hot choices and Continental as well. The owner is friendly but not cloying. Her daughter is charming. WiFi worked fine. We drove all over Skype from this location.

Over a two-week tour of Scotland with my family, this was perhaps the most comfortable bed! The B&B was light and airy, despite the "traditional" Skye weather, and the view from the breakfast room is wonderful in all weather. Showers had great water pressure and temperature (this wasn't the case everywhere we stayed...) and the village was a comfortable stroll away. Excellent base for seeing the southern part of Skye!

After the cold reception we had received at Glencoe how refreshing to be welcomed here by the owners daughter who was charming, friendly and very helpful. This was a great overnight stop -we had the family room with two very comfortable king size beds.We had an excellent breakfast with plenty of choice, and the views from the residents lounge were superb.
This is not a cheap B & B but there was nothing cheap about it -very comfortable and good value.
Thank you Fiona and daughter for a short but memorable visit.

From the beginning of our visit, Fiona had made us feel like we are an inconvenience.

Website advertised that there was wifi and we were given a password. It doesn't work well. It turns off every few minutes and we need to go out and push the button to reconnect. The connection is very poor and Fiona has been very unwelcoming. We were told, "you're not paying for the wi-fi, you're paying for the room."

Overall, the room is nice and the beds are comfortable. It is just not £120 worth of service.

We stayed at Blairdhu House on short notice due to some bad weather on Skye. The owner was very pleasant, the room quite comfortable and immaculately clean, and the location both convenient and scenic. A very relaxing place to stay for a night! They even helped us coordinate a ride to our rental car company in Kyle of Lochalsh across the river in the morning. A reasonable walk to the waterfront, local trails, restaurants, and to the ruins of Castle Maol. The breakfast was delicious and the common room had a large window with a lovely view. All in all a great place to stay and we're glad we stumbled upon it. I much preferred the relaxed ambiance of Kyleakin over Kyle of Lochalsh. I would recommend booking ahead anywhere in Kyleakin in the busy summer season though, as it is the bustling gateway to the Isle of Skye.

      We stayed at this B&B for 2 nights...May 22nd and 23rd of 2017.
It is super clean and super nice. The beds are very comfortable. The food is great and they have the most wonderful view from the breakfast room. They are friendly and helpful. Loved it! Couldn't ask for a better B&B!

Room tip: the upstairs rooms have nice sky lights.
