Elspeth’s Allen Cottage is a little gem. We booked based on previous online reviews and everything met and exceeded our expectations. We were looking for somewhere quiet where we could relax for a week and explore Loch Lomond and The Trossachs. Elspeth and Ken are the perfect hosts – attentive without being intrusive. From the initial booking through to leaving, both couldn’t do enough for us to ensure our stay was relaxing and enjoyable.

We were met on arrival by Elspeth and shown round the lovely cottage and gardens. Allen Cottage is set back from the road and surrounded by gardens and fields – a lovely place to sit and eat outside. The cottage is very well equipped – everything we could possibly have needed during our stay. We particularly enjoyed the log-burner in the evening. Elspeth’s home-baked cake was a particular highlight!

The cottage was an ideal base to explore the surrounding areas. When on holiday we prefer not to drive too far during our stay. We found a number of places nearby to park and walk and even a good local bus service to Loch Lomond. Balmaha is very close and a great starting point for a number of loch-side and hill walks – it also has a great little café. The local whisky distillery is certainly worth a visit.

Allen Cottage is certainly somewhere we would use again – a great combination of first-class accommodation, peaceful surroundings and lovely hosts. What more could you ask for!

On the outskirts of Buchlyvie, tucked quietly away off the main Stirling road and surrounded by farmland, this absolute gem is in the perfect location to enjoy just about everything that Scotland has to offer....... lochs and glens, championship golf courses, distilleries etc.............
Add in the ambience, the quality of the furnishings and the attention to detail from the owners, Elspeth and Ken Smith and you have really the best value I can remember in over 40 years of self-catering holidays.
Try it for yourself..............
