Juniper Bar and Restaurant needs to sort out whether it is a pub with pub grub or a restaurant. We were there mid-week on a day when there was no one-else there. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and there is a separate vegetarian one too. It doesn't do traditional 'fish and chips' which is always a welcome dish and the menu was a little limited - but probably reflecting a smaller establishment. We ended up with the steak pie and lamb shank. The food was tasty and well presented. Though the restaurant was empty, we were placed near the front door - which on a cold night we hoped didn't open too often. One person did come in to prop up the bar. One main dish each and a glass of wine/beer set us back £40. Not overly expensive, but not pub prices. Yet this place looks and feels like a pub, with bare tables and a prominent bar. It is called 'Bar and Restaurant' but as a diner with good food on offer, I would rather feel I was sitting in a restaurant than a pub which does not have any cosy features such as a fireplace. I understand it gets busy at weekends, but for us it didn't quite hit the mark
