We took a last minute gamble on a 3 night stay over Easter in Popular Chalet at the resort.
The room was far below the standard advertised ... as the pictured show there were rusty utensils in the kitchen .... the windows had condensation and mould... the smoke alarm was broken and I had to push tissue paper in the window to stop the draught.... the heaters in the room (2) were constantly on but the room remained cold and the bedding consisted of a thin duvet and nylon covers....
The place itself is looking tired and needs a facelift.... the staff are doing there best but also struggle with the challenging behaviour of some of the guests ....
The buffet style restaurant was busy on the first night as guests are unaware of the poor quality of the food.
Unfortunately the Kitchen in the room was very basic and lacked essential cooking tools... oven trays, large glasses, spoons, etc
We made a good stab at enjoying ourselves as holidays are what you make them...
Good luck if your visiting soon and hopefully you won't get the neighbours we had... that of course is not the resort's fault but topped off a crackin 3 night stay that we chose to leave after 2.

so... i visited here in August 2017, with my mum, dad, brother and sister (both under ten) we arrived after a really long drive, because of traffic. When we arrived we went in to the main hall to check in and it took 45 minutes to do so. The hall was old, and stank like stale smoke (the whole aite did tbh) when we got our chalet, we walked in and the place was absolutely discusting! dead bugs and spiders everywhere. The cutlery was filty and the window in one of the rooms wouldnt shut, we went to complain and the maintenance guy came in 10 miniutes. The staff at the desk didnt seem bothered and were really rude. Anyways.. the room was horrible and we couldnt deal with it. The entertainment tho was amazing. Honestly cannot fault it. We stayed in a standard apartment because the apparently didnt have club available. There were drunk people everywhere! more like a run down counsel estate. i wouldnt stay again and do not recommend, the blue coats where great! but the accomodation. the only reason we stayed all three nights was because are car was broken and wouldnt start. others wise we would have been gone in the first night we arrived.

such a bad experience hated it all.

We got this deal for 3 nights off Groupon for £60. I think reading the reviews helped a lot with what to expect so we weren’t as shocked and disappointed like we thought we would be. We decided to take our own blow up beds and bedding which if you can is recommended. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely guy on security who was very helpful and polite we then arrived at reception at 2.45pm and queues for about 15 mins to be told we can’t check in until 4pm which was annoying as it didn’t state that on our paperwork however they have a pub next to reception so popped in there for a quick pint. We came back at 4pm to see a We arrived at 2.40pm and was told can’t chexk in until 4pm we then queued with about 40 people which took about 30 mins in line to be seen they need more than 2 on reception at these times. As we queued we heard 3 people complaining about the rooms already so were quite worried as one just said ‘forget it I’m going home I don’t want another room’. We eventually got sorted by one of the blue coats helping out and arrived at 244. Upon first look all the chalet blocks make me think of Dirty Dancing and thinking I bet in the 60s these were lovely however I think that was the last time it was updated. We opened the door and to our surprise it was quite clean and tidy, it wasn’t great but better than expected. The room was freezing as people had mentioned and cost us £15 for 2 days electric as the heating was left on for the duration. The oven was either really clean or recently renewed as was the toaster and microwave. Bathroom wasn’t great and we decided a shower at home would be better due to the cold. Windows are single pane hence the cold and mattresses were stained which Put me right off. TV picture was something from the 60s too but took iPad and linked to TV for little one so we were fine. Amusements and Stage area were very good and little shop on site was reasonably priced as was the bar. The park area was partly closed and rides are ok but all cost a few pounds each so not cheap and we decided due to the poor cleanliness of the site not to venture into the pool. The surrounding area was lovely we popped too Rhyl and got lunch from supermarket and then on the Saturday went to Paanshee Indian Restaurant in Prestatyn opposite the train station and was beautiful. Finally the blue coats do work very hard and did as best they can with what they have and our little one had a lovely time at the Croc party which again did cost £5 to watch the show and play games and you get a lunch box with crisps, cake bar and a drink but no sandwich. Overall slightly better than expected but had a nice time, if on a tight budget the room is cheap but will cost approx extra £100-200 in food/drink/games/amusements etc if you aren’t careful with spending. Will be back though.

Just came back from a three night stay left after two ,we paid £85 pound for an upgrade would not like to think what the other accommodation is like if they call this an upgrade ,the single beds are covered In plastic .the pillows and quilts are a disgrace The shows at night are a very poor standard .We had taken our grand daughter aged 3 who was looking forward to seeing captain croc who made an appearance at night on stage for about ten minutes .they then announced to meet him tomorrow would cost £5 per child to see him .never once saw him walking round the camp site.

Room Tip: there isnt one

Rooms are not adequate size for the occupancy. 2 kids in a single bed each and then a crappy "sofa bed" if you could call it that, for 2 adults!! 2 forks and 2 knifes. 1 tiny saucepan and frying pan for a family of 4 self catering. 2 broken televisions in the room but no working tv for the 3 year old we had with us. Asked at reception 6 times for a tv, with no avail. 1 hour queue to check in with another queue of people complaining at the same time. The rooms were freezing, and that was with us bringing our our blankets and onesies, after seeing the other reviews. Definately will not be returning to Pontins!!! The kids nightime entertainment looked ok, but that was about it. Even the extra's on the park cost additional money and you have to pay for your own electric. The place is stuck far far far in the past and no one gives a crap about anything on the site!!!

Room Tip: Go for a club room on the ground floor, but I would still avoid and go somewhere else
