My partner rang around teatime yesterday to ask if they had a room available for tonight as he’s working for two days in the town. A really nice lady answered, told him yes, it would be £45 for one person or £80 for two people, including breakfast (as clearly shown on their website) At this point I hadn’t arrived home so he was unsure if he needed it for both of us, said he’d ring back soon to book, after he’d established if I was joining him.
On ringing back to confirm it would be just for him, an extremely rude man answered asking who he’d spoken to earlier. Well, a lady, don’t know her name … Very awkward, said he’d need to ring his wife and would call us back, which he did, claiming that they can’t do rooms for that price, at this time of the year, and “you wouldn’t get any breakfast for that anyway.”!!
Upon insisting that what the lady said earlier also fitted with what they advertise on their website, this extremely rude man was having none of it. My partner lost his patience and told him to forget it, do they want guests or not, and just wait till we do a Trip Advisor review!

I have since booked my partner into a different B&B close by where I hope he’ll be treated with a little more courtesy. Since our attempts to book, I’ve also come across other reviews where this man has been rude to people. If he was my partner in business, I’d ban him from answering the phone!! Tonight they’ve probably got an empty room instead of £45 in the till – serves them right!

After checking with the reception team, there is no evidence that a booking was made and only a enquiry and in both cases no member of staff was rude, the Gentleman just didn't want to pay and wanted something for free. We have amazing guests whom we love and after 8 years have a wonderful successful business. Please give us a call and we can prove it.

Always a great stay at Monfa- highly recommended. Shaun and Paula are friendly hosts and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Good rooms and a very good full English breakfast. Very convenient if you are visiting/volunteering at the Talyllyn Railway.

For anyone walking the Wales Coast Path this is a good B&B. The welcome was warm and friendly from Paula and her husband. We had walked in heavy rain but wads of newspaper were provided before we had even asked. The room we had was a good size and the twin beds we're good and firm. The only reason for 4* and not 5* was the size of the en-suite; a little on the small side. Breakfast was excellent and at a time to suit us - we were having to catch the train back to Tonfanau to pick up the stage through to Aberdyfi. Definitely recommend for future WCP walkers!

We booked for a family party in tywyn the night before and family were really accommodating. When we arrived, we had a lovely welcome. We had a family room, a very spacious double and a little snug for the children. Room was spotless, WiFi and plush towels. Tea and coffee too. We didn't have breakfast due to going to another event . Would recommend this hotel.
