We have just returned from a week in Sorrento , the Mornington Peninsula , Victoria , Australia . Sorrento has a lovely village feel to it not quite as pretentious as nearby Portsea . The back beach has great surf while the front beach is more tranquil on Port Phillip Bay . Stringers is a boutique cafe , wine bar and cellar with great coffee . Breakfast and lunch are outstanding . It is both an excellent meeting place with friends or a quite read of the morning papers .
They have a very good presentation of wines especially from the Mornington Peninsula . Do try the Baillieu Pinot Gris .
Parking is sometimes difficult but we were there for Christmas week . The staff are friendly and efficient .
Worth a visit and we will definitely return .
