Went out for a date night at the local pub on a Friday night for dinner. Service was friendly and the meals were delicious. We had a potato and smoked hock graten and pigs ear as an entree to share which was amazing! As a main our tastebuds were delighted with red mullet and pork belly, both cooked perfectly. Presentation was beautiful, only thought to take a photo of the pigs ear for novelty. Definitely recommend to others and will definitely be eating here again! Really enjoyed ourselves

We had Breakfast & Dinner when we stayed at this hotel. Plenty of food and good quality. Locals support it too - very busy.

We used to spend short getaways there when the place had been removated with great style - still noticable, but so is the neglect, probably due to lack of funds from declining visitor numbers to the area.
The staff and local patrons, however, were very friendly, the service and the food left nothing to be desired. There is also a terrace (beer garden) with river views. Good stop on a day out.

Went to Alpine Retreat Hotel on a Friday night in September 2017 hoping for a good solid pub meal. Ordered the beef schnitzel from the specials board. Got a thin strip of beef(?) smothered in batter and dripping in oil accompanied by very sad salad and chips. Paid the price three hours later with a stomach upset. A lady nearby had what may have been a steak sandwich but was hard to tell - she did not look impressed. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Our family group of 8 ordered mostly parmas or fish. The hotel was quite busy (school holidays) but the food did take quite a while to come. My pumpkin parma was ok but the others enjoyed their chicken parmas. The pub is quite dated but has a good selection of food to meet most palates.
