We happened upon this little restaurant by accident. It is not visible from Hwy 90, so we had never seen it. Wow! What a neat place! It is set in an old home surrounded by outside dining areas under large shady trees. We opted to dine inside, where we found several small rooms in a very cozy environment. There are historic pictures of Castroville buildings on the walls and the environment reeks of the town's history.
The lunch menu is excellent: Soup, salad, hot and cold sandwiches and a couple of entrees. We had the Landmark Roast beef sandwich and the Gourmet burger. Both were excellent - large servings, served hot with lots of melted cheese. I was not overly impressed with my Caesar salad (lettuce, croutons and Caesar dressing) but the chicken tortilla soup was great. The service was a little on the slow side, but they were very busy and the wait staff were very attentive.
We will definitely be back!
