Description: The Airport Diner is a classic 1940s diner, located next door to the Hangar Hotel and immediately adjacent to the Gillespie County Airport aircraft parking ramp. From the booths, you can watch aircraft come and go while enjoying great sandwiches, breakfast, and daily Blue Plate Specials. The Diner is not just a place to grab some food, but rather a unique atmosphere to relax and enjoy a good meal while reliving the past. And you never know what you might see land just outside the window.

Good food, but we could only have breakfast on Friday morning. It wasn’t open on Thursday for breakfast and the only option in the hotel was a little scone, which were gone by 8:00 am. Food was good but several of us had to have food reheated. Toast was not toasted and when it came back it was burnt. Service was great and they were very busy. Didn’t have lunch since we were in town and nit going to come back to the hotel for lunch. Unfortunately, the diner isn’t open for dinner.

Fredericksburg is a place where restaurants often invest more in the setting than the actual food and this place is no exception. It was just ok. It could be really something if the food was better, but because it's quaint, 50's style and at the airport, people will go just for the vibe. Kelly likes to respond, so Kelly, here is what I would suggest.

• Up the quality of your breakfast meats. Wherever the Sunset Grill gets their sausage, find out and put it on your menu,

• Ditch the pathetic home fries for hash browns, or if you stay with the home fries, maybe cut the potatoes yourself instead of buying them frozen and in bulk, add a little garlic and some rosemary.

If you have to increase prices a bit for better quality food, make it happen, it certainly wouldn't be out of line with the rest of this town.

Great food and service!!! Busy place. Enjoyed watching the planes while we ate. Nice treat outside the bustle of Fredericksburg. Chicken salad was fresh. Homemade chips.

Perfect for guests at the Hangar Hotel as well as just a great destination for a meal and watching small planes landing and taking off.

The food is good but another reason you should try this restaurant is the fun atmosphere and being able to watch the planes fly in. We ordered the Club and the Flying tiger. Both were delicious and good sized portions.
