“Hill Country Honeymoon Hangout”
Reviewed 26 July 2017 for a stay in June 2017

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon stay at The Pot Belly Stove Guest House. We arrived in the early evening after driving through wind and rain to find a cozy and inviting home away from home. There was a bottle of local wine waiting on the table, a fridge full of tasty beverages, and best of all was the basket of fresh fruits and baked goodies. The country décor was tasteful and the furnishings were very comfortable. Once the weather cleared up we especially enjoyed sitting out on the front patio watching the deer. Even though we were only minutes from Fredericksburg’s main drag, it felt as though we were out in the country, with views of fields and wildlife. The patio also featured a small fish pond, chimminea and porch swing. Our hosts Buddy and Heidi Mills were so sweet. They weren’t overbearing, but they were there if you needed anything. They do live right next door to the property, but their animals were quiet and they were respectful of our privacy, so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We had a fantastic experience with this location. We will definitely be visiting again and will recommend it to all our friends and family.

“"Out in the country", yet less than a mile from town”

Great getaway....bed was really comfortable, kitchen and refrigerator was well stocked, including a welcoming bottle of wine from Becker Vineyards on the little kitchen table. Although it was small, it was cozy and charming. The bathroom was somewhat cramped. The outdoor patio was replete with a small, gurgling fishpond, ample bird feeders, quaint outdoor tools and bicycles (all for show), a chiminea all ready to strike a match to it and deer feeders to attract them. The only drawback was the owners four, large vehichles parked in their drive right next to the small yard.....it might have been easier if they were somewhat blocked by bushes or lattice work....although we never saw anyone, you felt that there was always a possibility that they might be walking right past you when you were "escaping" out of doors. We will return, though, and I have even talked about it to four others within the past 48 hours.....the best time is spring or fall, as you can REALLY take advantage of the sweet little patiol.

“We really enjoyed the attention to detail, decor and peaceful setting.”

We felt totally pampered. Upon arrival, there was a bottle of local wine, fresh fruit, pastries, and a small refrigerator stocked with juices, milk, and soft drinks. The setting was very peaceful and quiet, with deer visiting the yard and a small pond with gold fish. It was a short drive to the activities on the main street of Fredericksburg. The cottage was nicely decorated and very clean. The only improvement we could suggest would be for an additional shelf in the bathroom, which is small. We would definitely stay again if in the area!

“Private & Cozy”

We weren't sure what to expect when booked, however, it turned out to be the most amazing place! Quite close to town (you do need some sort of transportation) but on the outskirts in a rural area.
The owners were wonderful & very cognizant of our privacy. They left all sorts of baked goodies & everything you could ever need during your stay! There were fresh flowers on the table & very good instructions, ideas on where to go & what to see. The cottage was spotless and very comfortable.
We had our own little yard with a pond & patio set which was the perfect place to sit & sip a glass of wine. The gurgling pond was very relaxing!
Looking out the window one morning, we saw deer on the road. The owners have pets and we were delighted to make the acquaintance of '2nd Kitty' as by that time we were missing our 'Kitti' at home.
Previous reviews have said that people wished they could have stayed longer - that is SO true! We stayed for 2 nights and really do wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back in the Fredricksburg area and WILL definitely stay at the 'Pot Belly Stove' cottage!
