Pretty standard Aloft in a central location near the giant Galleria mall. I wish I had that air conditioning contract. The stay was OK but then my bill included an extra $62.50 charge from the bar. I called to have it removed and the blunt message I received back was that it would not be removed because it was my charge. I was told my name was on the bar slip. I followed-up two more times to get a copy of the bar slip and my name was, in fact, written out next to an illegible signature and a room number that was a few doors down from where I stayed. None of it was in my handwriting. Several more communications resulted in the charge eventually being removed about a week later but even after two more follow-ups, I can't get anyone at the hotel or the SPG chain to offer me an explanation as to how and why my name was used to charge 5 vodkas at their hotel bar. I have three problems here: (1) their internal system is lax enough to permit this; (2) I was wrongly and somewhat rudely accused of charging 5 vodkas and then trying to lie about it; and (3) nobody offered me an explanation even after several requests to do so. I'm disappointed in the brand.

Room tip: Choose a room without unauthorized charges.

The staff was friendly, professional, and helpful. My room smelled like a gym. 😷. I asked the housekeeper for air freshener and he sprayed the room...it didn't help. It was as if someone worked out and rolled all over the room. The smell would not dissipate. There was a pad on the wooden seat area...filthy. Lucky for me it was only one night.

Stayed for one night. The hotel is really nice, but it has a few areas it can improve. Pros: Nice view from the room I was in, modern feel to the rooms (not the same-o same-o with most hotels), comfortable desk and work chair, close to the Galleria and multiple restaurants within walking distance, parking at the hotel, though an extra charge, was a breeze (Tip: Check-in parking is located in the garage on the first level). Cons: One shade in my room wouldn't entirely close which was uncomfortable, lighting in the room could be better, the room didn't get very cold even though I had the unit on 65 and constant, pool area felt like a sauna (too hot), for some reason the doors on the patio are locked on the outside so I had to go thru the main entrance to get back in.

Which is to say, exactly what you would expect. Friendly staff, clean rooms, not fancy but very functional. Always consistent. Seen many of these properties and they are amazingly similar and all we'll run.

My service was I didn't need very much it was just a weekend get away. But the in room motel like AC units were so loud and came on every ten minutes I could not get any sleep. My room was great but they must do something about those air conditioners it's like a airplane is taking off every ten minutes.
