We stayed for one night, celebrating our wedding anniversary. It was honestly the perfect spot for us with all of the bars and restaurants in walking distance. There were also some theaters we could have gone to if we had planned ahead. The lobby had free chocolate chip cookies and a free wine hour, which was a great way to start our night out. We met a lovely couple and sat and talked with them for the entire hour. Then, upon arriving after our night out the doors were locked to the public, which made us feel safe. There was a lounge area with free espresso and an old school pac man arcade game. Loved it! After a great night sleep, we went down to the mezzanine for the breakfast buffet. The food offerings were more than we expected and it all tasted great! If we're ever in town and need a place to stay, we're definitely returning. Just hoping for a better view next time, as our view was of a dirty parking alley. ;-)

Room tip: We were in 509 and didn't like the view. I would suggest a room on the other side of the hallway.

There is an amazing breakfast buffet that comes with the room. But for business breakfasts it is worth it to pay for breakfast at a comfortable table in the Bistro. Miss Rose was there to usher me to a table. New on the menu is the International and it is tasty and healthful. Poached eggs and arugula, tomatoes, feta and balsamic drizzle on european thin wholegrain toast. A healthful, delicious and filling breakfast.

A shout out to Laura and Danny for the warm welcome (and chocolate chip cookie) they offered at check in, even though it was super late. Lina is unfailingly polite and makes sure reservations are made with minimal effort on my part.

The rooms continue to evolve to be even more luxurious and comfortable. The new Frette linens and big poofy down pillows add an even greater sleeping experience. I had a moment with two other guests at the hotel. We were strangers to each other but we had a communal moment of appreciation for how great the rooms are.

Keep up the great work. The management and staff at this hotel really care and it shows.

If you are doing anything in the the Theater District or just want a romantic getaway, I highly recommend this hotel. The quaint atmosphere is punctuated by the attentive staff and the luxurious bedding. I slept like a king. I also recommend Birraporetti's just across the street. Even if you only stop in for a late night appetizer and a Guinness (or a dessert and some Irish coffee), you'll be glad you did.

Room tip: Southwest corner rooms have a great view.

The Lancaster Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the theater district in downtown Houston. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Laura, Ryan, Russell and Daniel. The rooms were comfortable and we loved the sheets! The only negitive...when guests let their room doors slam it's very noisey. We would definitely staff there again. This trip was a combination of business and family fun.
Thank you for a wonderful experience, Norman & Pamela B.

Norman and Pamela - many thanks for your comments and feedback. We take guest feedback very seriously and will do all we can regarding the doors and minimizing any loud sound they would make when closed too hard by guests. Thanks again for choosing us.

Everything was exactly as mentioned by other reviewers: friendly staff; well appointed rooms and the price was extremely reasonable for being a central Houston location. Daily happy hours with free wine and cookies are a definite plus too! Only issue we had was with incompetent valet parking attendants. Took around 25 minutes to retrieve the car, even though it wasn't busy. But the hotel did end up refunding the $30 daily charge for our trouble. It was also unfortunate that there were no self-parking sites nearby. Otherwise, it was worth a stay and will return next time.
