It appears that local people had some incredible collections of everything from arrow points to dolls to carved ivory which they donated to the museum. It kind of looks like a rummage sale but it is well worth wandering through. There are many interesting things from a Lady Bird Johnson dress to a 1920s Atwater Kent radio. And as a bonus - there is a fantastic model railroad in a separate building on the premises.

Lots of interesting local history items, and information on local historic personalities. Some Confederacy stuff, but I guess that goes with the territory. Also a fantastic model railroad that we really enjoyed.

My wife and I went to the museum today. It had four floors of a mix of historical items and memorabilia. There was interesting historical information about Jefferson and Marion county, but also random selection of donations from various towns people.

You can't go to Jefferson and not do the ghost tour and visit this enthralling museum. The building is packed with artifacts from Jefferson's long and storied history, and you will want to take your time and learn about each and every thing there.

Every time my family and I go to Jefferson, we always stop here for a visit! They have a wide plethora of historical artifacts that span from about the 1800's onward. There are several fascinating sections but my favorite is the art gallery. I could stay in there forever. Every time we visit, we discover something new in the museum and overall, any history lover will not be disappointed if they go here.
