We were in town and wanted to try a non-franchise Mexican restaurant. Decided we'd try El Jarrito. The restaurant is very large and had a huge patio, where most diners seemed to prefer. We heard some live music coming from a back corner of the patio. The chips and salsa were very good. We shared a giant margarita and we were disappointed as it was weak. The meals were delicious with generous portions. We had hoped to try the sopapillas but we were stuffed.

It all depends upon what you want right ? Located in 'white' hombre Katy and totally for the gringos. The restaurant and especially the terrace is pleasant enough and indeed reminiscent of 'down Mexico way' but this is a fast moving table turning hustle experience. The staff are pleasant and the speed of service is but a snap of the fingers. However, the quality of food is lacking and so is the ambience. It's not somewhere I would take my family but I would have lunch with a friend.

Y'all, I love El J's (as my family lovingly calls it). We have been eating here for over 13 years - since it was at it's old location on Mason and Cimarron Pkwy. The waitstaff knows us and they are always so friendly. Their salsa is delicious and typically served warm, and the beans they serve with the chips are AMAZING!!

The beef fajitas are marinated so well, the ceviche is outstanding, the enchilada verdes are the best in Texas (and I used to live in San Antonio), and their stuffed poblano pepper is so yummy!

If you're in Katy or West Houston, skip all of the big name Mexican restaurants and head straight to El Jarrito's. You will not be disappointed!!!

Went here on a Friday night with the family. We ate around 6:00 pm so there was no wait. Restaurant quickly filled up after that. The service was good. Salsa was excellent. We had the Beef Enchiladas, Cheese Enchiladas and Chicken Tortilla soup. All were very good.

We just love this restaurant. Service is great, the food is great and the house frozen marguerites are wonderful. Plus, we can walk here from home. What's not to love!
