Description: Since 1929, Blue Bonnet Cafe has been the place to see your neighbor or friends, catch up on what is happening around town, or stop when you're just passing through. Good food and friendly greetings are what we're all about. In fact, they've made us world famous. Our menu has something for everyone, from salads and sandwiches to chicken-fried steak and pot roast. We also serve breakfast all day and make our soups from scratch every day. Stop in and enjoy all your favorites. Oh, and don't forget to save room for a piece of one of our legendary pies.

The Bluebonnet has a long and storied history, having served generations of Texans and celebrities as well. Their pies are well known, and their chicken fried steak/chicken fried chicken are among the best. Those plates come with 3 sides, and there are plenty to choose from. Top it off with a gracious and experienced wait-staff, and you'll understand why you might have to wait in line to be seated.

Food was ok at best. I know they were busy but it could have been better. Biscuits and toast both dry, scrambled eggs were greasy, bacon was like shoe leather.... Hopefully they were just having a bad day but my visit wasn't good.

We thought that with all the hype that the pie happy hour was a bid deal. We didn't think so - it was like the drink (tea & water) that we had with the meal were none free and you coule get a piece of pie for $3.00.

Breakfast was delicious. Extremely large portions. The pies looked amazing - and so many varieties. They must be good because lots of people had pie after breakfast. Service was excellent and our waitress was friendly. Good local flavor!

I live here in town and have tried the BB a few times just to give it a chance to live up to the hype.

The wait is often long, the waitresses too hurried to give great service, and the food is bland. I have had MUCH better pies in other places here in the Hill Country - Dalia's (Lib Hill), Pie Company (F-burg), or the one in Hutto. I will say their meringue pies are tall and taste good, they do make a good breakfast and grill foods (like hamburgers), but it REALLY is not worth all the ravings! I have tried several of their cream pies and the pecan and I AM CERTAIN they were not made in house.
