Cannot say enough good things about chez Luigi - so here goes; just came back from dinner having eaten there 3 times in a row of our 3 night break in GC. Saw good reviews and as it was close to our hotel we went the first night. Then every night. We travel a lot and have enjoyed many great (and not so great places) but every once in a while you run into a gem. Always happy to say when a place has great staff - from the host to the chefs and support team. Same for chez Luigi but of course the waiters make this place special. They are very busy but somehow make everyone feel specially attended on. We had several waiters over the nights and all were fabulous. And funny. The food - I can eat but the tapas i could barely finish. The seafood was great. Didn’t have a chance to try other things but asked about what we saw on other tables and we’ll be back for grilled sole and giant steaks next trip. Others have said about the complimentary drinks after the meal. You just have to experience this for yourself - it’s like your at your friends house.... and finally clearly others come back time again as there is a comradeship between the customers some new and some who must have been before. For us - it’s a top reason to come back To Maspalomas. We added a couple of pics but had to wait a while to find time when part of the restaurant wasn’t full so you could see “Luigi”

Ok Gran Canaria is obviously a very touristy place. However, if you would like a nice meal in a nice atmosphere and you know a thing or two about good gastronomy demeanor, don't got there. Just don't. The menu has hundreds of dishes - not local, but very basic Italian food (Spaghetti with variety of dozens of different sauces, very likely not fresh or self made). The waiter was very rude, jumped on us and asked if we want water, coke or wine. Wine menu - disaster. We asked about a local wine option and he sold us "Rioja" for wine from Lanzerote. Fail. When we pointed out Rioja is definitely not a wine from Canary islands he offered a very expensive wine bottle which wasn't on the menu. We escaped immediately and didn't look back.

We always visit this restaurant during our holiday in PLI and have been very happy. Not this time. It took a really long time to make our orders as there was only one guy to take the orders and the restaurant is really big. Before Luigi was doing this job very efficiently but this time there was no Luigi to be seen. Almost all the staff is new. The food was OK. My husband wanted to have coffee. It never came but was in the bill. They corrected this, but it shows that there are too many customers and too few waiters.

We went here the first night we arrived and will definitely not be returning during our stay. Food came to our table within a couple of minutes of ordering which rang alarm bell. Food was the cheapest of produce and couldnt taste anything other than salt and garlic. All four of us left our meals. The waiters avoided coming to our table when they saw we hadnt eaten our food but when they did and we said the food was bad just cleared our plates and walked away. We paid the bill €68. Cant believe anyone could have enjoyed their food in here.

Looked busy, menus were clear and reasonably priced full of smiling customers.

Waited a long time for menus, were given bread rolls and alioli by a waiter who said nothing.

Eventually ordered tuna tomato salad and spaghetti carbonara.

Rolls and alioli were delicious, salad looked very well presented but too much tomato for one person.

Spaghetti carbonara with grated cheese on the side. White sauce, ham and parsley. No garlic no flavour and insipid sauce! No cheese in the sauce. Two of our party left most of it.

The third had a lasagna which was ok for the price.

House wine was nice.

Brandy, rum or schnapps was offered free at the end of the meal nothing was offered to the non drinker on the table.

Inexpensive but disappointing could not recommend visiting this restaurant.
