H10 Conquistador
Reviewed 17 May 2012

We took a two week holiday from May 1st - 15th and booked as Privilege guests after having experienced the benefits at H10 Lanzarote Princess in Playa Blanca. There was no dedicated Privilege check-in but we didn't have to wait long at the main desk and we were dealt with by pleasant, helpful staff.
The room had all the facilities we expected and there was ample storage space. We had a lovely view out to sea and our balcony was positioned so we always had some shade if we needed it.
The room and bathroom were spotless and were always kept that way by the friendly chambermaids.
I had the very pleasant surprise of a bottle of cava on ice appearing in the room on my birthday. Thank you H10.
We were on half board and found that there was always a fine selection available. Sometimes there was even crispy bacon at breakfast - the first time we have ever seen this in a European hotel. The fresh bread was delicious especially when it was still warm from the oven in the evening. The show cooking provided variety and the themed areas added even more choice.
We also liked the outdoor terrace as an option to inside eating and we were lucky enough to have weather which always made this our favourite spot.
We never used the sunbeds by the pool and even though there were always the usual "lay-out-the-towel-brigade busying themselves before breakfast we often saw empty beds if we walked through the pool area via the handy promenade gate.
The Privilege terrace also suffered from the sunbed baggers but that never bothered us as we never lie in the sun. We did however enjoy being able to go to the room for cool drinks whenever we needed them.
We bought a 30 euro Bono bus ticket and it proved to be excellent value. We were able to travel to Santa Cruz by express bus and onwards to La Laguna ( the beautiful old capital) a journey of 100 minutes for only 6 euros each. We made quite a few other trips and the one over the mountains to Icod de Los Vinos gave us some amazing views.
Each day after our trips out we took advantage, as Privilege guests, of free entry to the Despacio Spa Centre. It was a wonderful way to ease the aching calves and refresh ourselves before the evening meal.
We only ate once in the Italian restaurant but the food was delicious and the warm chocolate brownie with cream from Mike's coffee shop was to die for.

We have stayed many times at this hotel and it just gets better and better. It has recently been refurbished and is looking more like a 5 star than a 4 star. The rooms are lovely and the sea and pool views are breath taking. We went half board and I would honestly say they cater for every taste from breakfast through to dinner, concentrating now more on themed evenings. The staff are attentive and helpful and as its centrally located you don't have far to walk for bars, supermarkets etc.

When we got there it took a while to work things out so hope this helps
We went all inclusive which included food drink and you only got drinks from outside bar also you got 1 meal in the italian restaurant.everything else you pay for (including indoor pool:()

You can upgrade to privilage which allows you to drink at the top cocktail type bar near reception( very quiet area withe piano type entertainment, lots of plush chairs etc you had to pay at the bar here unless you were a priviliged client. At the back was a tv were my husband popped to to watch the footy now and again.
All the shows were outside they were ok pretty much what you would expect ,
my only complaint here was it wasnt very plush looking, the stage was not lit very well and the acts got changed in a tent at the side of stage which was very amateurish, so we didnt bother with it much

some nights it got a bit cool so pack a cardie( it would have been nice to be able to sit inside watching acts when it got cooler few more comfy chairs outside restaraunt entrance and shop would have been good because as ive said you can only get your ai drinks from the 1 outside bar so if you drink your stuck outside,

Theres a coffee bar next to the italian restaurant which is for privilage, you can use it but you pay with discount( we didnt bother the ai coffee and hot chocs were good enough)

The indoor pool you pay for as me and my sister found out 2nd day we went in and jumped in pool having fun , waters really hot, then spa attendant came and asked had we payed we thought it was free but no
yes youve guessed it only for privileged, so we got out lol, next day we went back and payed 12 euros each for use of pool sauna jaccuzi steam room , no treatment, it was very pricey and also empty all week so think they need to drop the prices.

Having said all that the food was lovely and had everything you could want (lamb, fish, beef, chicken, salads, soups,)( full cooked breakfasts cereals toast pastrys fruit yoghurts infact everything you can think of they had , and plenty of it, everything was well presented and tasty, it was clean and although busy there was no queuing at all which was great
The location was stunning and the area is gorgeus if you go out front doors theres lots of lovely shops restaurants etc, lots of lovely flowers very pretty and upmarket area, lots of little childrens play areas so great for young families and not a hen party in sight, magic
The staff are all great and very helpful we were greeted very warmly at reception and they were all lovely to us and made us feel special , the rooms are cleaned daily with fresh towels etc and were very smart ,our view was stunning ,the outdoor pools are brilliant and you can always get a sunbed, they even supply a sponge cushion that covers sunbed making it really comfy, the sun hits most areas around the pool so its not a problem finding a good spot.also they dont play loud mad music so its very relaxing
In fact we had such a brilliant time weve booked again for the end of july x

My wife & I have been staying at the Conquistador regularly for over 25 years becausewe like the running of the hotel and the staff are always smart and helpful .It has recently been refurbished to a high modern standard . We findthe food quality & selection in the dining areas excellent ,the rooms are to a good standard clean and the towels replaced daily. The pool area is maintained to a very high standard with regard to hygene and the garden areassurrounding it .Activities cover a wide range of interests for all ages ,one of which my wife participates in regularly is aquagym ,however, on this last visit it did fall below the standard we have had in the past.
