“Wow! A stunning property. Clean, comfortable, warm, bright, perfect.”
Reviewed 10 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Having never visited Skye before I looked long and hard for location, type of property, amenities etc but once I saw Owlswood my mind was made up. It's perfectly situated on the island. Close to Portree (where you can get your food/essentials) you can get to the Trotternish peninsula easily (Mealt Falls, Staffin Beach, The Quiraing, Uig), the Waternish Peninisula (Stein and Ardmore Point), and Duernish for Neist Point Lighthouse). Dunvegan is close and the road takes you down to the Minginish peninsula (Fairy Pools, Glenbrittle, Carbost, Tallisker Distillery, Eynort). Even the southern parts of the island aren't too far and the Cuillins and the drive to Elgol are worth the effort.

Owlswood itself is immaculately presented and the attention to detail is superb. Phil and Karen have done an amazing job. Everything has been finished to a really high standard and it's immediately evident when you walk through the door. The house is homely, cosy and very well furnished. The kitchen has everything you would need to cook for yourselves (plus dishwasher for cleaning up afterwards!), the lounge has comfy sofas, a huge TV and a wonderful log burner (which we used just once - it's fair to say that we didn't have the best weather this week). We had no problems with the internet but no Vodafone signal (great - no phone calls, total peace). There were only two of us so we only used the Master bedroom but the bed was very, very comfortable and the large walk in shower in the Ensuite was a real treat. The other two bedrooms are also very well furnished and the Family bathroom is immaculate, with both a bath and a large walk in shower.

Outside, there is ample room for parking and plenty of outdoor space to sit and relax. A large BBQ, plenty of seating and views into the woodland at the back of the property. I understand that Phil is going to build a small bridge over the stream and provide a large decking area just in front of the woodland (it's a bluebell wood too - they were all out in their glory when we were there) - I'm sure this will look amazing and be a great addition to an already fabulous property.

Edinbane itself is a lovely quiet village. There are two pubs - we only visited the Edinbane Inn, a two minute walk away. Fabulous food, fabulous service and very friendly staff. Live music on some nights too. Great atmosphere.

Would we come back to Owlswood? Most definitely - we felt so at home here, especially during the rainy periods when we just stayed indoors and made ourselves comfortable. A five start property any day of the week!

“Beautiful house, well equipped, exceptional location and hospitality”
Reviewed 30 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I researched many self catering properties on Skye and none came even close to Owlswood for quality and style at a very reasonable price. The property is well presented throughout with logs included for the feature log burner during our stay, a beautiful patio area, modern and tasteful rooms and fantastic tropical rain showers! Owlswood is situated between 2 pubs which is a great call given the general lack of pubs on Skye. The owners Karen and Phil are brilliant; very welcoming and helpful should you require anything.

There is a lovely feature wooden child's play area close by should you have young children, with even a zip wire for us adults to have a sneaky turn on!! Owlswood is also situated within a 2 minute walk to the Edinbane Inn which is a fantastic pub with lovely food and live music on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Would we return? Most definitely!!!! We have been to Skye and Mull on numerous holidays and this is by far the best self catering property that we have stayed.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 21 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Stayed in this house for a week with partner and two young girls. Everything was spot on. Property is either newly built or newly renovated, everything was new and finished to a very high standard.

The outside of the property is grand and very appealing, ample parking for bigger groups, sun trap seating areas on both east and west sides, good for morning or afternoon sun, two pubs a stones throw from the house, bus stop next to property is good for getting to Dunvegan and Portree, excellent kids play park 100m away.

The inside of the property is really nice, heating system very good, beds and furniture really comfortable, nice big showers, kitchen well equipped wi-fi is really good despite owner claiming it was just 'OK', no vodafone reception in house, one bar in car park, three bars in a lay-by a few hundred metres away, not sure about other networks, believe orange is good.

The location is great. We had never visited Skye before and I had looked at several properties in different locations, having driven the length and breadth of the island I was glad that I chose Edinbane, access is great to most of the island and it doesn't feel like you're out at the end of a road. Many other areas I'd looked at are in fact out on a limb and wouldn't have suited us nearly as well. It only took about 45 minutes to drive down to the Cuillins so the south of the island is by no means a big trek.

The owners were great, very helpful and friendly. We will definitely return to this house in the future. Can't recommend it enough.

The property is first class and has every-amenity needed for a five star stay whilst maintaining a homely feel, The location is fabulous likewise so are the host's. We asked where we could buy seafood locally and much to our surprise were presented with scallops no more than ten minutes old having just been harvested rom the local Loch. Cannot think of a better all round break that we have had. Once again thank you
