We thoroughly enjoyed a Wednesday night dinner here. This is a nice restaurant in a small beach town. The host was very polite as was our waiter. He made very good recommendations for us and the service was prompt without making us feel hurried.
We had the baked Bolognese and the beef medallions. Both were delicious and the fresh baked bread served with olive oil was wonderful.

I think some of these negative reviewers have strange expectations. This is probably as close to fine dining as you will get in Port Aransas. I appreciated the opportunity to enjoy this sort of meal in a small town. I also appreciated the sign on the front door.....parents keep your kids under control and don't let them run around screaming. If this hurts your feelings, it is probably aimed at you!! No offense, of course!

Last night we decided to try this restaurant on advice from friends and locals. It was delicious!! Paul our wait person was very attentive but not overboard, we really like that! Our Caesar salads were fantastic! The dressing was one of the best we have had at a restaurant and the topping of anchovies added that extra plus. We ordered the Red Snapper special and the Linguine nel Golfo. The red snapper was excellent! It was accompanied by mashed potatoes and grilled brocollini. My pasta dish was tasty. Since I am lactose intolerant, the chef made a wine, butter sauce and omitted the cream. It was very helpful!! For dessert, I ordered the special, a pumpkin, ginger caramel flan. It was heaven!!! So light and delicate!! Perfect way to end a most pleasant evening!!!

On a rainy Friday night, we dined on delicious food and received exceptional service. Paul, our server, recommended wine and it was perfect with our meal. The Misto Mare was "sopping good" packed with scallops, mussels, shrimp and crab swimming in delicious seafood broth perfect for the warm crusty bread. The flounder was prepared perfectly with the charming potato "mushroom" a true delight. My husband greatly enjoyed his Fettuccine Aurora and devoured his creme brûlée. A dinner we will remember and we plan to return.

This restaurant is uncharacteristically run "well." For a beach town, one doesn't exactly expect greatness and good timing, but Venetian Hot Plate does very well. The dishes were all excellent from the mussels to the pasta. My only complaint is that we have always been on time and they interrogate you when making a reservation like they're taking confession (on whether you will be on time)! However, I am willing to accept this behavior because their food is so good!
