First of all, incredible food. Would come back just for that. Awesome little B&B. Great murder mystery story. Great for couples or whole family! Kathy, the owner and her husband, are wonderful people and we're very hospitable. Will book here again in the future and would recommend this great place to anyone.

Jeremy (you will always be Lester the Newspaper editor to me) thank you for such sweet words. That was a great 50th Anniversary weekend and watching the smiles on the Mom and Dad's faces.... was worth the earth (and the bumps in the road)! Glad you and Case are coming back (he says he wants to do our teens mystery with his friends:) ... when you do, make sure the desk gives me advance word. Cathy

Thank you so much, Meliissa. We have loved having you guys! I'm glad Hannah has some time to go at TxState...we will keep being family, and loving every minute of it. (Glad her permanent housing finally came through, what a hassle that was for all of you. )

Great staff, comfortable bed, good quality linens. Amenities in bath a bit lacking - no lotion and the nice big bottle of lavender hand soap had no dispenser so I guess it was for looks?
Breakfast lacked imagination and with at least one local roaster, why serve Starbucks coffee?
Nicely stocked library
Great location- within walking distance of lots of things
We enjoyed our stay

Thanks for taking the time to write, and your candid feedback is appreciated. We need to replenish the bath baskets it sounds like. Missing dispensers aren't, um, exactly what we'd wish on you guys! I'm so sorry, we will do better.

Re the coffee, here is our most recent coffee saga: the local roasters just aren't very good. And we tried for many months, using multiple types of beans. We have the most good feedback when using Seattle's Best #4 and occasionally Fara coffee from Austin. But our daughter manages a Starbucks outlet, so we've gotten pretty hooked on their coffee and the price is right so from time to time we vary from the Seattle routine.

Here's a fun Crystal River coffee story. Once years ago we had a young businessman stay with us weekly for quite a while. It was him that taught us that guys don't really care for flavored coffee, because at the time we were using Golden Pecan and thought everyone loved it. But he didn't, and finally admitted it, so the next time he came I made a point of stocking something I thought he'd love....not flavored, but a gourmet Guatemalan roast. Nope! I handed it to him proudly, he took one sip and made a face, drawling "Did the Folger's man run over your dog when you were a kid???"

Fantastic place to stay for a girls' trip - we stayed in the Blanco suite and it accommodated 5 of us nicely! The extra sink area was perfect when we all needed to get ready.

The grounds and breakfast are heavenly - don't miss staying here!!

The main building is a charming house with lots of nice furnishings. We had the Medina Room, is on the 2nd floor on the same side as Zelicks. We were very pleased with everything UNTIL we returned to our room at 9 pm on Sunday night. The noise was unbearable. The bar turned up the bass so much the walls were rattling. It is hard to believe any business would be so inconsiderate and just downright SELFISH to think others wanted to listen to such trashy music. We realize this is a college town, but this bar doesn't do anything to promote a good image of the college. What away to ruin a charming area near the town square. We called the owner who was out of town. She was VERY nice and understanding, and arranged for us to move into another room in an adjoining house that was part of the complex. The terrible boom boom boom did not permeate through the building since Zelicks bar is on the other side. We were told Zelicks was not exceeding the allowable decibel limit. They figured out how to beat that limitation by cranking up the bass to absurd levels. On the positive side, the patio and grounds are nice, and so too are the staff.

Hi there-- I so appreciate you taking the time to write. I really appreciate that you stayed with us AND that you called me that night! When we are aware of issues as they happen, most of the time they are very solvable. I talked at length with Zelick's management both that night and since; they are sorry, and they did tone it the minute I called them that night. I think a new DJ was responsible. Normally the bar has quite enjoyable taped music, and is courteous to our guests. Yes, they have music and yes it goes late (a few times a year there is a band, and the city requires those to end at 10pm). But bass that rattles walls is something that in 5 years of them being there, is something we only experienced when they first opened, "back when". Today, again, it is rare. That said, far more people love having that beautiful fun garden bar practically on site, than hate any noise it produces. We have rooms that are completely protected from it, so any of you who are a light sleepers, just say so at reservation time and we will fix you up!
