“Great Stop for History Buffs”

National WASP WWII Museum
Attraction details
Reviewed 12 September 2009

What a gem of a small history museum--and it tells a worthwhile story. Located at the Sweetwater airport--it's not hard to find--the museum intelligently, and in a visually appealing way, tells the story of young women in WWII who trained as military pilots to replace a keen shortage as male counterparts serve overseas. I brought my 8 year old daughter--great fodder to talk about the war, how times used to be different for women, service to the country, etc. It takes about 45 minutes to see everything. Perfect break on an I-20 trip, or a destination trip for those close by. Only downside was that the volunteer when I was there knew basically nothing about the WASPs and could answer no questions.
