This bowling alley has been on the same hilltop for as long as I can remember...@ least two decades. It sits next to the old Country Club, & like the Country Club, it has gone through many changes over time. Much to it's credit, the management of the Hilltop Lanes has either changed ownership or perspective. It was going through a period of neglect for awhile, & during the last two years, many improvements have been evident. Some of the changes may have been induced by the filming of an award winning local movie company that used the bowling alley as part of the setting in which some of the film story was enacted. The facility is clean, well organized, & efficient in the delivery of services. The cost of shoe rental & lane usage is very reasonable, the concession area serves a variety of quick but tasty food, & the adjacent bar serves beer & wine. I have been told by friends that the management does not tolerate misconduct due to over-drinking, & this feedback is verified by my own observations. A good, family-oriented activity that is fun for both adults & kids. The alley also offers a youth training & practice program with coaching leadership during the weekday & weekend hours. The instruction & encouragement of this program gives young people with no bowling experience to gain confidence & skill in this sport. Kudos to management for this type of attention to young people! If you are passing by Waxahachie on Interstate 35, & need a break from the road, just take the 287 business exit, & you cannot miss the site. A pleasant way to get some exercise while taking a road trip. Plenty of local motel choices.
