You don't find many places outside of Texas that serve good Tex-Mex food, but this restaurant in St. George, up on the side of the hill above Bluff St. has great Tex-Mex.
It's not easy to find, because it is on the side of the hill. There is a street that turns
off Bluff St that goes up to the parking lot to Paula's so you really have to be looking
for it. There is plenty of parking and the wait staff was very helpful. We asked for
a table by the windows and had a very nice view of St. George.

Arrived for supper last night and were told it would be a twenty minute wait to be seated. Walked through the restaurant and noticed that well over half of the tables were empty. There were only four in our party and there were many four tops available. Forty five minutes later we were seated. The host brought us water to drink and we were disappointed that they do not serve alcohol. He also brought some chips which were not too bad and some bowls of salsa which tasted like tomato sauce from a can...just horrible. Ten minutes later our waitress showed up to take our orders. Thirty minutes later later our food arrived. Ugh! All of us agreed that it tasted like bad tv dinner fare. This is is one place that we will never return to and neither will any of our friends after we tell them about our experience.

We were looking for an authentic dinner and not a chain restaurant. Paula's fit the bill. While the decor is a bit dated and the seats rather soft, the food and service were excellent. The refried beans were wonderful and we ate way too many nachos with salsa.

I highly recommend Paula's and would definitely eat there again.

Healthy ingredients, good size portions, but kinda bland. It is inexpensive though, so depends on what you are after. Very hectic and noisy atmosphere.

We don’t understand the bad reviews. Wife and I ate here tonight and we both enjoyed our meals. The service was excellent, very attentive waitress. Very nice setting and views. The Paula’s special chili verde chimichanga was very good and loaded with meat. Wife had tacos and said they were very good.
