Description: ** PERMANENTLY CLOSED** Amy's creative approach to combining ingredients results in an intriguing and delicious menu. Enjoy a memorable fine dining experience while relaxing in our rustic cobblestone walled restaurant and greenhouse garden room. Our broad wine list and extensive selection of spirits will provide just the right accompaniment for your meal. And as a reward for eating all your veggies, you should treat yourself to a delicious homemade dessert. Afterwards, feel free to stop in at our spirited local tavern for an after dinner drink or a game of darts, with live music in the tavern on most Friday evenings.

We go every year mainly for the eggplant fries. Highly recommended! One area of the restaurant has reservations and the other does not. Significant bar scene and good solid menu. Great for a group.

Had a steak dinner here and I would say it was very good, not quite excellent. Would definitely go back. Good service.

OK first thing that needs to be said is that we didnt have reservations...was happy that they were able to accommodate us....The following dinner got rave reviews..Duck 5 stars, Chicken 5 Stars, everyhting else, particularly the fish dish and the prime rib got so so reviews...The prime rin was particularly lacking in flavor...I had an end cut and it was without taste, and really need seasoning...The Mackerel dish was fishy and was basically saved by the sauce. Service was slow, but this could have been cause by the staff triyng to accommodate us. The dessert sounded better than they tasted...anyway, we will give it another try because to the mixed reviews. But for now they are a solid 3, maybe 3 1/2 stars,

Chef/owner, Amy Chamberlain, and server, Krislyn, made our 35th wedding anniversary dinner a memorable occasion. The
attention to detail ( hand-picked flowers with a personal message and a perfect table with a view of the beautiful grounds) was appreciated.
Chef Amy made a personal visit to our table while we were enjoying our complimentary desserts.
By the way, the food was excellent!
A perfect restaurant, perfectly named.

The Perfect Wife is really two restaurants -- a tavern upstairs and a extremely pleasant dining room downstairs overlooking the gardens. This review is of the dining room. The chef tries to use locally-source ingredients whenever possible -- an example is an outstanding first course of Maplebrook Farm Buratta. One of our party had the Wolf's Howl -- a chef speciality -- which is one of the most outstanding vegetarian bowls any of us has ever had -- and it features the local in-season vegetables. The Sesame Crusted Tuna is also excellent and usually available -- but we also tried it with salmon, and it was even better! For a first course, although I prefer it as a main course, the Maine crab cakes are sautéed to perfection and served over local greens -- and it is spectacular with the Horseradish Potatoes. Pre-dinner drinks often include some seasonal specials -- the Elderberry Mash could not have been more refreshing on a humid evening. The wines and beer list is very good (always some excellent craft beers). The dining room is not large and several tables front on the windows overlooking the garden (try to get one of these). The serving staff is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu, but not intrusive. The restaurant is very busy during the horse show in July/August and during ski season, so reservations are usually a good idea.
