Very pleasant people and room, conveniently located, and having breakfast to our order brought to the room was just lovely! We stayed in the carriage house, so didn't have to negotiate any stairs with our heavy luggage. That was a plus -- and we had selected that particular room in our reservation.
We'd stay there again on another visit.
Very satisfactory.

When my husband and I travel, we split up making reservations. His choice are usually chain hotels and my choice is to find a historical hotel. I made a wonderful choice with The Inn on the Green. We stayed in the Carriage House in the Shoreham Room. The the room was very nice and comfortable. We had been lost in Vermont for about 4 hours (we are from a state of prairies and better cell service-no Google map or Mapquest) and by the time we got there, I was tired and crabby. The innkeeper greeted us and was very kind and understanding with grumpy me. She had just came from turn down the bed in our room. When we got to our room, we made the choices for breakfast. In the morning, it was brought to our room and everything tasted wonderful. My only complaint is that we didn't have more time to explore Middlebury and enjoy our room. When we got back to our home, The Inn on the Green was one of the first on the list about our trip.

Room Tip: Any room would be wonderful.

This Inn was right near everything in town. We stayed in the carriage house and not the main building. The room was lovely and clean. We could hear other people going up and down the stairs but it was very quite at night. The breakfast was delivered at our preferred time and was very good. We enjoyed our one night stay.

Wonderful place to stay for the weekend. The room is spotless, bathrooms well appointed and very clean. The television could be a bit larger but we really weren't in the room all that long. Continental breakfast comes with stay, yogurt, pastries, ect...Close to the college and many little restaurants..We will be back!!

My stay at the Inn on the Green was generally a positive one and the staff could not have been warmer. There were fresh-baked cookies on offer. Unfortunately the bed was a bit creaky and lumpy, making for a restless night. Chairs are comfy in principle -- overstuffed and welcoming – but every chair I tried had seen better days. The Inn’s main house is vintage 1801 and it is charming. There is no common room so breakfast is brought directly to the Inn’s guest rooms. Breakfast was simple, with tasty muffins and other baked goods from a local bakery. Local Vermont cheese and Babybel cheese was individually wrapped. Fruit was apples and bananas. Coffee was fine – tasted like two cups of Keurig/Green Mountain served in a thermos. The highlight of breakfast by far was a pot of what tasted like homemade strawberry jam. Outstanding. There was free parking right next to the Inn. Front stairs are long and steep. Rear door is more accessible. Inside stairs were very steep and narrow – authentic 1801. Bathroom was spotless and shower worked well. Internet in my room was weak – 1.3 mbps.

BostonFreqeuntTrav1, thank you so much for your review. We sincerely appreciate that you took the time to offer constructive and very courteous advice about the aspects of your stay that would benefit from our focused attention. (We also, of course, thoroughly appreciate the wonderful things you said about the warmth and helpfulness of our staff and some of our service offerings!) Your words prompted us to critically examine the furnishings in our guest rooms; as a result, we are ordering a few new chairs, as we agree that some of them deserve to be retired.
I am so sorry that the internet speed in your room was not satisfactory. We do monitor performance periodically; typically, download speed is 6-8 Mbs even with a full house. However, we do acknowledge that it can be slowed when many guests are streaming data at the same time.
I do want to say just a word in support of the coffee we serve at breakfast and at other times by request. We are proud to offer Bali Blue Moon Organic coffee, roasted for us in small batches by Speeder and Earl's, a wonderful coffee roaster located in Burlington and Colchester, VT. We chose it for its smooth robustness and also because we have fond memories of time spent in Bali many years ago. We also are pleased to make available to guests Illy espresso at our free, self-serve coffee station, where we also offer a Keurig coffeemaker and a variety of coffee K-cups in hopes that we can accommodate a wide range of coffee preferences. We take our coffee seriously at The Inn on the Green!
Our sincere thanks, once again, and best wishes for happy travels.
