Four of us rented a two-bedroom apartment at Grey Fox for four days. The stay was great. The place was clean, cozy, and centrally located on Mountain Road. Our apartment had a full kitchen, dining table, and fire place. The pool and hot tub were also nice. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We thought the price was very reasonable given the accommodations. Thanks for a great experience.

Room Tip: The top floor has a very pretty view.

Older, not renovated. Spacious enough, but definitely not up to date. The room was clean and the staff was nice. No coffee available in the lobby. You could purchase at $4 right next door at the adjoining restaurant. Coffeemaker in the room looked kind of antique and not very reliable.
Breakfast at the restaurant next door was good. Little sledding snow mountain outback kept the kids entertained.

We arrived for a 3 night stay for a birthday mini-getaway and really wanted to like this inn. However things weren't so great for us. Upon arrival the desk attendant was very nice; no complaints there. The info given to us said the pool/hot tub room was open until 10pm so we looked forward to going out for dinner and returning for a swim. Around 9pm after dinner we returned and changed into bathing suits. Went to try the door to the pool and it was locked. I guess they locked it early when they left (the inn has no staff on site at night). So we went back to our room wondering why the info sheet said 10pm if they closed it by 9pm. That's when I walked around the bed and found a black sock on the floor. I told my husband don't forget he left his sock there so that it didn't get left behind. He said he only had white socks. So there I was looking at a dirty black sock from the previous occupant. Gross.
Next morning we went to the hot tub and found it boiling hot. It wasn't the kind of hot that just takes a few minutes to get used to; it was the kind of hot that could potentially cause burns by trying to get into it. I went and asked the desk attendant if it could be turned down and he said that the boiler needed to be fixed and if they turned it down at all it would just turn off. He said they were working on getting it fixed. Okay, but I found a review in here from August stating the same hot tub complaint. So we went about our day and once again returned to find the pool room closed by 9pm. That's two nights the pool room was locked prior to closing time. The next morning we thought we'd use the coffee maker in our room to make coffee but found mold in it. (See photos) So we went to buy coffee from Dunkin Donuts instead. Then we found the pool locked at 12:30pm. We left to enjoy our day and upon return the hot tub was totally empty (I was hoping the water may be bareable by this time) but it was just plain dry instead. On the day we checked out I told the desk attendant that we were disappointed about the hot tube being too hot then empty. She said "Oh that's weird." Not in a rude way; but she didn't even seem to know that it was non functioning. Talk about not informing your staff. Awful inn.

We have been staying here for about 6 years and enjoy each visit. We are three friends who travel once year and spend a week together. One friend has some medical issues so we need a place with a kitchen. A few years ago we found Grey Fox quite by chance and return each year. We stay in the Mountain View Building in a bedroom-2 bathroom condo unit. It has a kitchen, two balconies, three flat screen televisions and a great restaurant. There are two pools - indoor and outdoor. The outdoor pool is situated in a lovely garden settings which is just steps from the building. We had one issue with one shower faucet and they fixed it almost immediately. It fits our needs and the cost is not prohibited even in season.

Room Tip: Rooms in the Mountain View Building actually face Mt. Mansfield

We were just at this inn the Labor day weekend. We got a room that was invaded by bees. We got a different room. We find out the following day they gave our old room to another couple and they never resolved the bee issue. The couple had us come see the room and the same dead bees were in the same area we left them. Also when we were given another room, the balcony door did not lock correctly. We left our luggage behind the door. This was my first vacation in Vermont and it wasn't pleasant.
