We were staying in a nearby small town for the night and didn't want to venture back into Brattleboro for dinner, so we decided to try The Eatery. As we drove up, it was almost as if it was a mirage - a quaint old general store emitting a warm glow from the windows filled with happy diners. We were able to snag two seats at the bar and were not disappointed. Each staff member was friendly and knowledgeable, many patrons were known by their first name, and the food was delicious. The ambiance was so nice and was cozy - perfect for a cool fall evening. The beer on tap was phenomenal and each dish we ordered was delicious - especially the burrata and heirloom tomatoes. We shared a blueberry and peach pie for dessert and were not disappointed. For the rest of our trip in Vermont, we kept trying to find a place that had the same vibe and quality as The Eatery, and though we had tasty food other places, not one compared to the overall experience of The Eatery.

Family run (mom Laurie runs the floor, Dylan is head chef, and dad Glenn tends bar and cooks) and serving locally-sourced food, it is always a good night out and well-worth the drive. Only wish they were open more days (currently Thursday - Sunday). Pizza oven and lots of local beers on tap.

This restaurant is currently only open Thursdays- Sundays! A local was anxious to get us to this very cute farm to table restaurant that was fairly new and others were raving about (absolutely no bad reports). All the wonderful reviews about the atmosphere, friendliness, creative, healthful, fresh ingredients... etc.... were true.... BUT the food was OK, not more. The scallops were fresh, but nothing on that plate was "tasty" (although well prepared). We all tried the scallops and agreed that the flavors were just WRONG! I had the pork taco and I was satisfied, but it was not special in any way... however it was enjoyable. My wife was interested in trying the Emu special with homemade pasta dish ... and she liked it a lot. So, if you go, expect a very nice small place (reservations recommended), and ask a lot of questions when you make your choice. If we didn't expect to be "wowed" then we might have considered it better than average. I would go back if others wish, but I'll stick with my Pork Tacos! (BTW... we tried some fair, but forgettable soup apps. You might like those better!)

Sometimes farm to table restaurants can be precious. The Eatery however let the local fresh ingredients and flavors speak for themselves in dishes that were simple, creative and delightfully executed.

Our appetizers were so outstanding that we both acknowledged we were truly having a remarkable culinary experience and savored the food and service from beginning to end.

Well done, you may want to make a special trip to experience this gem.
