I stayed here for a week and have a lot of confusion/ mixed emotions about the inn and its location. I loved the area and its quaintness but with only one main street truck traffic can get loud and of course this is the week they are repaving Rte 9 ( the main street).

As for the inn itself the porches are lovely the river front well maintained and pleasant. The unit I am in faces the parking lot and there is plenty of noise and traffic from trash collectors to just plain rude folks talking loudly and slamming doors. Even still there are plenty of quiet moments.

The appliances in this unit are old and just this side of functional. I keep using the oven and then when I get up during the night find that while the oven was hot the door warped and now the inside light is shining. The halls are narrow as can be expected in an old Inn which makes for a bit of noise if children are out there. The smell of bleach in the bathroom passed but the bed linens even after a week still smell too strongly of bleach, Also bed in this unit is rock hard and the pillows are worse.Since Bennington is nearby rather than dealing with their horrible pillows I bought one for under $3.00 at Walmart.

So Bennington is an easy drive and so is Brattleboro. If I were not from Western MA, Williamstown is also very near by so lots to do and there seem to be lots of great restaurants.

We were basically happy with the accomodations at this inn, with the exception of two drawbacks: 1. It was very difficult to get our belongings to the second floor room. You have to go through 3 spring loaded fire doors to get to the small elevator at the bottom and again at the top. Then it was a long hallway to get to your room. When you are staying a week, you tend to bring alot of food and belongings. It took a good 30minutes to unload and reload at the end. 2. With no air conditioning, you have to leave the windows open at night. The bar with their outside deck across from our window was still going at 1:30 AM. Music and loud laughter does little to get a good night sleep.

We stayed at Crafts for a week and used it as our base to travel and explore the region. We had a one bedroom that overlooked the pool and found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. We really enjoyed relaxing and playing games at night on the enclosed porch, we got in a few games of racquetball and some swimming. All the facilities are well kept and clean. It's very close and within walking distance to several choices for eating and shopping. When I read through reviews and saw some rooms didn't have AC I emailed a few weeks before our stay and asked if we could have a room with AC. No problem. Very well appointed and supplied for a small Inn. The only negative thing I can say was that they bed was too soft for us, but that is obviously a preference thing.

We had no issues while we were there and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have AC. Request it if you want it.

The Inn was very nice, clean and freshly redecorated. The town is perfect for outdoor activities. Lake Raponda 10 minutes away with boat ramp. Has canoeing, fishing and loons. The only negative I had was that the town is a throughway for tractor-trailers at all hours and our room was right on the street. Try to get a room in the back if you like quiet.

Went here to relax. What a lovely place. Very near restaurants. A beautiful ride over mountains to Bennington. I will go back again to The Crafts Inn. Very helpful and courteous staff. Clean, neat and lovely rooms. Visited in May 2016.
