We stayed at the Anchor Inn several years ago and it was wonderful. They built another hotel in front of it which now manages the Anchor Inn. You eat your free breakfast in the new hotel - laundry services are in the new hotel. The view is still gorgeous from the balcony. I'm not one to complain, however we had a room that had several issues, and were moved upon request without a problem. I hope the issues were resolved, because that night the same room was occupied. Mind you we moved for a health code related issue. I really hope they fixed the issue with the ceiling and didn't just paint over it in the first room we were in. The staff, housekeeping and front desk, were extremely nice and more than helpful when we had no hot water for 2 of our 3 days staying. It seems like all of the attention was in the new hotel and the Anchor Inn was an second thought. I don't think we will be back to this hotel again, which is sad. The view is stunning there, but I think next time I'll go down the road a bit to a smaller and better maintained hotel.

Room Tip: You will wake to the trumpet of the Coast Guard every morning and in the evening. The view from every room upstairs is stunning.

We had a really nice one-night stay at the Anchor Inn during the off-season. The location is great, within easy walking distance of the shops on Main Street. The room was very spacious and comfortable, too. And very quiet! Though it is next to the Coast Guard, so at 8 a.m. on the dot, we heard the trumpeter playing the reveille. The continental breakfast, served in the main Marina Bay hotel, was adequate, and the staff were very friendly. Our "bay front" room was more of a bay-side room, though.

The exterior of the Inn is very well maintained and spotless. Our room was also very clean with a comfortable bed and fabulous views overlooking the bay. Nice bathroom amenities and great water pressure for showers.

We were a little disappointed in the breakfast only because the chafing dishes they used didn't seem to keep the food (eggs, sausages, potatoes) warm. In addition to the eggs, they also had two waffle makes and a nice selection of cereal, yogurt and some fruit.

The Inn is very well located to visit the Nat'l Wildlife Refuge as well as to wander around the little village of Chincoteage.

The rooms are spacious and extremely clean. We were so pleased that we added an extra night on to our stay. They have a very good breakfast buffet in the morning in the building next door. The pool was very inviting and the area was very clean also. They have fire pits at night for you to sit around the fire and the WiFi is good. The staff was exceptionally nice too. We had a baby view room with a porch with two chairs. The only thing this place could use is a small table out on the porch with the chairs the bed was comfortable and the linens and towels were in very good shape. I would definitely stay here again when visiting the area.
