I have enjoyed afternoon tea in London, @ the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town (an amazing spread), at Chateau Lake Louise in Canada & all around the U.S. - but Barbara's scones are the best I've ever tasted. Tea at the Channel Bass Inn, however, is much more than these amazing scones. On a freezing November day a blazing electric fire greeted us before we indulged in cup after cup of heart-&-toe warming hot tea served in fine china cups, lovely tea sandwiches (smoked salmon, egg salad) for our first course, then three kinds of amazing scones (with cream, butter & homemade jams) for the second course, then both my brother and I opted for the freshly made apple cake that was over the moon delicious. All served with love amidst a busy tea room, our cups constantly refilled to the brim. We had been up since 3:00AM to see a NASA rocket launch @ Wallops Island (in 25F weather.) This special afternoon tea in the elegantly appointed setting of the Channel Bass Inn warmed us inside and out. Many thanks to Barbara for this heart-warming experience we will never forget! A highlight of our week in Chincoteague!
