I stayed at the Island Manor House twice in 2017: in early summer with my husband for an anniversary getaway, and in early fall for a sisters getaway. We stayed in various rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. Some of the bathrooms are a bit small, but all are very well equipped and were spotlessly clean. The location is perfect for wandering out into town in the evening. If you take advantage of the available bikes, you might never have to get in your car at all during your stay. The breakfasts were great, but I have to say that the afternoon Tea is a MUST DO if you can fit it into your schedule. Absolutely decadent!

Our trip could not go by without a few comments about The Island Manor House.

First, we showed up a day early and the owners, Sam and Lynn, could not have been more accommodating. Thank goodness, because we would hate to have missed out on this jewel.

The house itself is just beautiful and CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN! The decor is perfect for this lady of grandeur ... and the owners’ touches are everywhere. The amenities (24/7 snacks, tea, coffee, etc.) were fantastic along with the BEST breakfasts we’ve had anywhere... creative, fresh and so tasty ... definitely gourmet quality. The room itself was nicely decorated keeping to
the period with necessary modern touches. Again, very clean and fresh.

We took advantage of the patio in the afternoon and the most delightful fragrance kept wafting by. The wind chimes added a very magical touch along with the flowers and fountain.

Walking to nearby restaurants and shops was easy and the owners certainly know their town and were so helpful with things to do. We came and went throughout the day and evening and felt as if we were coming home.

A wonderful experience and we will be back!

My husband & I stayed here on a long weekend getaway in the Coastal Breeze room which was very comfortable & nicely decorated. Our hosts, Lin & Sam, were wonderfully welcoming, friendly & knowledgeable about the area, what sights to see, where to eat, etc. There was a beach shed which contained anything you needed for the beach (chairs, umbrellas, towels & even sunscreen) as well as a bike shed with plenty of bikes for guests. The courtyard is lovely with a working fountain, tables, chairs as well as flowers which Lin will use to garnish your breakfast as well as herbs which she uses in her recipes. And, speaking of breakfast, well, all I can say is Lin is a whiz in the kitchen. I totally enjoyed looking forward to breakfast each morning to see what would be awaiting us as we came down for breakfast. The other guests were interesting & friendly & hailed from overseas as well as close by as Washington, DC & I especially enjoyed how Lin assigned seating by the name of the room you were staying in & mixing guests together, rotating you to a different table each morning so that guests could mingle & get to know each other. I forgot to mention the snack room where you can make tea, coffee, grab a snack or indulge in the most delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies that Lin makes each day. jehnts

Great experience. Sam and Lynn were great hosts. They had terrific recommendations for dinning in addition to wonderful breakfasts. New how to get the best views of these incredible horses, both by land and sea (pontoon boat tour). Provided bikes to tour the wildlife refuge. Very comfortable rooms. Could not have been better!

I stayed here a couple weeks ago for a weekend, and enjoyed the stay. This business does not get much action here on TA, so I wanted to help out.

First, this is a BnB, in an older home. There is no pool, no shuffleboard, no swing set and in no way kid friendly. The home has antiques, fine furnishings, stacked wine/drinking glasses available for guests, art work displayed on walls/tables/curio cabinets, etc. and is not a place for your kids to play tag in the living room.

The home is well maintained and very comfortable. Large screen TV in a living room, a kitchen area with coffee/tea/cookies/snacks/water/ice tea available, and a refrigerator for guest use. The courtyard is interesting, with flowering plants and a running fountain, and a good place for a drink or morning coffee.

There is one garage area with beach supplies (chairs, towels, bug spray, suntan lotion, etc.) for guest use, and one garage with many bicycles for guest use.

The room where I stayed was quaint and comfortable, and the rooms that I peered into appeared to be the same.

The breakfast is served each morning in a nicely furnished dining room, and the food was gourmet quality and interesting.

The owners/innkeepers are mostly behind the scenes, but the young girl (forgot her name) that greets most guests is extremely helpful and accommodating.

My stay was not perfect, and no stay at any inn or hotel will be, but the imperfections were negligible, and thus no need to elaborate here.

In my opinion, the Island Manor was a good alternative to standard hotel accommodations on an island that has many standard hotel options. I would return any time.
