First of all, I am a budget traveler and base my rating on what one should expect in a low cost accommodation. The room was large with king bed (comfortable), sofa, coffee table, large table, chair, and lamp. TV cabinet with three pull out drawers. Wooden luggage rack with bottom shelf. Two night stands each with lamp, drawer, and bottom shelf. AC and portable radiator. Small fridge, microwave, coffee maker with coffee packets, wide vanity, large mirror, hair dryer, well lit, soap, body wash, plenty of good quality towels, great shower head, good pressure, plenty of hot water. Clothes rack for hanging clothes with shelf above. Nice pictures on the wall. Parking right at the door. C'mon people, what more do we need for under $60? OK, I swatted three flies with the provided swatter. It's an exterior door. They get in. Deal with it. There WAS a constant humming noise coming from somewhere. I think my room must have shared a wall with some electrical motor. I could have asked for a room change once I became aware of it, but I decided it would be more trouble than it was worth. And yes, noise from above is quite noticeable but that is common in most motels. They weren't nighthawks so it wasn't an issue. I could have asked for an upper room, but I wanted the convenience of being close to the car. A trade off of sorts.

We stayed two nights in Sept, there were 4 adults, we got the room with a king size bed and sleeper sofa. BIG MISTAKE! The sleeper sofa was VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! My daughter ended up on the floor, because she couldn't take the sleeper sofa anymore.
Other than that it was very quiet, the bathroom was TINY!
But for the price, you can't beat it!

My husband and I planned to spend our anniversary weekend at the Chincoteague Inn but when we got to Chincoteague after a 3 hour ride in the car my husband was hardly able to move - evidently aggravated a back condition in the process of loading our bikes on the car.

We called his doctor right away and received steroid medication from the pharmacy in Chincoteague but decided we needed to return home in case we needed to be near his doctor and hospital.

The hotel staff recognized the seriousness of his condition and said that they hoped to be able to refund some of our two-night stay payment. However, the entire amount was immediately debited from our account.

We had stayed at this hotel some years ago and enjoyed our stay. However from the looks of it no improvements have been made since we were there years ago - also smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke.

We have been going to Chincoteague just about every year since 2008. We've stayed in just about all the budget motels on the Island and this was the first time we tried the Chincoteague Inn. We can hands down say that the room we stayed at was the largest, cleanest, and nicest room we have stayed at in any of the budget motels on the Island (compared to four other low-cost local motels). It was also the lowest cost off-season rate that we have gotten in the last several years.
Our room was one that had been remodeled and had a King bed in it which was the largest bed we have booked at that price range.
The pool was nice and clean, and the staff was friendly. We had one small problem with our shower head and when I mentioned it to the maintenance man he promptly replaced it within minutes.
In the past this facility did not receive very good ratings because the previous owners did not invest well in maintaining it. It is now under new ownership and the new owners have been improving and remodeling the rooms for the last three years so please give them a try if you were put off by previous reviews.
This motel is centrally located just a half block from the famous Island Creamery ice cream parlor and there are several other shops and good restaurants within walking distance. It is also close enough to the Assateague Wildlife Refuge that we rode our bicycles in (it's free to walk or bike in and that saves you the $20 vehicle entrance fee) Also the island Trolley stops right at the corner and you can ride it downtown to the shops or all around the Island and back to your door for 25 cents.
SUMMARY: Best Bang for your Buck and Biggest room for a Budget Motel on Chincoteague Island.

Room Tip: after booking online call motel and ask for a remodeled room

The room was old and needed updating but it was clean. The bed was comfortable. The walls are very thin. You could hear the neighbors showering and it sounded like the guests above us were stomping all night.. Not a lot of parking. No breakfast or coffee in lobby. one if the least expensive rooms in the island, so you get what you pay for.
