Our first trip to Fossil Beach and looking for fossils. We were the first car to park and second family on the beach today with many others following suit today. Nice walk down to the beach and very cool due to the trees and arriving around 8:40am. There had been a fair amount of rain the night before and it created a run off of cool fresh water to stream into the beach/Potomac. Our kids had fun playing in the sand, water and picking up shells and rocks. My husband and I looked for fossils, but as total amateurs and ill prepared we only had a few fossils and sharks teeth. I would definitely recommend taking a 1/4" sifter, shovel, sun block, bug spray, and plan on being there at low tide with some patience. It was a lot of fun. I would also highly recommend taking some water and snacks as the trek back up can be awful if you have any hangry members in your crew. Makes the walk back seem like it's much further.

My family and I have been coming here for years. Absolutley the place! We have stayed in the cabins and also set up tents. We love to search for sharks teeth and use the boat launch for our kayaks. Beautiful views.

We were staying at a near by campground and drove here for the day. We only used the beach area. We took a Kayak out. Very nice and clean beach. Not overcrowded for July. We saw some deer when we were leaving. Will definitely come back when we can stay longer.

Westmoreland State Park is absolutely beautiful! This park is very clean, maintained and family friendly. The campsites are spacious and level. There is something for everyone with hiking, swimming, bike trails, and kayaking. I would highly recommend this Park . Definitely will return for more visits!

We were in campground A. it was quiet and clean. We walked around to campground B, and it was not as quiet. We walked to the beach -- don't do that if you're older or have heart problems. It's a steep walk back. Many people at the beach -- for the day. The pool was clean, but there were some horseflies that bothered people. The snack shack was a shaded convenience. No umbrellas or shaded areas on the pool deck. Campground bathrooms clean. Lots of kids with bicycles, but that added to the family feel of the place. Although we are older, we liked that.
