Joan and Bob are warm, gracious and generous hosts. They go the extra mile to be sure you feel welcome, comfortable and provided for. They wouldn't have to offer beer and wine in the evening (at no extra charge). She wouldn't have to prepare such an elegant, customized breakfast... But that's the kind of people they are.
The house - my goodness! everywhere you look there's an interesting, attractive, unique art object. It's amazing!
Rooms are more than sufficiently spacious and thoughtfully appointed with every need and comfort in mind.

We were doing a road trip starting in Front Royal driving Skyline and Blue Ridge Parkway. We found Woodward House on Manor Grade online and what a find, we reserved a room in this B&B to start the Skyline Drive fresh in the morning. We were greeted by Joan who was very welcoming and she is one of those people you are instantly comfortable with. We moved our bags into our room and went to town upon returning Joan had relocated our bags to another room, upgrading us as another guess had canceled.
Woodward House is very unique in its atmosphere and styling in a wonderful way. Upon entering you follow a hallway to the living room and stairs to the second floor. The hallway walls are decorated photographs and art and each room off the living room are decorated with the unusual and different. And the best part is each piece has it's own story shared by Joan, her twin Kathy and husband Bob who is an artist in his own right.
Our room was also uniquely decorated with paintings and antique furniture and a very comfortable bed. We came down for breakfast and from the oatmeal to baked potatoes were from scratch. I'll attempt to post pictures of my breakfast which was served by Kathy who was bending over backwards to please us. Double hugs from the twins before we left for Skyline.
Upon leaving the Asheville, NC area we originally planned a different route home but decided we wanted to go back to Woodward House and we did. It crossed my mind that that when you try to relive an experience it usually disappoints but that didn't happen. We will always have fond memories of our new friends and their hospitality.

What a lovely B&B. We found this gem on our way to DC from Charlotte. Joan and Bob couldn't have been nicer. Even though we got in late in the evening, they were very accommodating and enjoyed a glass of wine with us. Our room was very comfortable. Breakfast is to die for. All fresh made, all delicious. You will be skipping lunch!
Highly recommend staying here. It is convenient to highway.

My husband and I stayed at the Woodward House on Manor Grade for 3 nights. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. We stayed in the Twins room since I have a bad back and need a very firm individual bed. The room was small but it was nicely decorated and very quaint. We got to peek at the other rooms in the house as well as the cottages. I would be very happy staying in any of these accommodations. What really sets this B&B apart are the hosts. Joan and Bob are warm, helpful, lovely people! They go out of their way in every way possible. Joan is a sweetheart and hugged us goodbye. Bob is a very funny and generous individual. Breakfasts are amazing and very filling. The fresh fruit was sweet and included typical Summer fruits even in December. I am not an "egg person", but Joan's omelets with fresh eggs from her chickens and lots of yummy fillings made me LOVE this entree. Joan also makes homemade baked goods that are warm and heavenly. It was nice to wake up to the aroma of bacon and cinnamon buns. We will return if we find ourselves in the area again!

Room Tip: I thought Julia's room in the main house was the nicest! The cottages were also really great!

Stay no where else - - This is the place you want to stay in Front Royal! This place is beautiful and Joan and Bob are unbelievably gracious hosts. These guys are pros. They make everyone who stays at The Manor House so comfortable and they are extremely of the entire area. The rooms of this B&B are so charming and the food is fantastic! Don't miss the Woodward Manor when heading down to the Skyline Drive and the Shenandoah National Park. Great time and 'we'll go back, again and again and again!
