Located in what appears to have been a gas station, Pave Mint brings Texas smoke to the Shenandoah. Not your typical smoked meat menu, and maybe trying too hard because of it. Great offering of smoked meats is offered up in non-traditional presentations. The daily meat selections are not written in the menu as they change daily. Ask your server what is available. Chicken Poutine was served over polenta fries with cheddar cheese curds, brown gravy and an over easy egg. Heavy smoke on the chicken, polenta fries could be thinner, gravy could use more flavor. Popeyes chicken quesadilla was a bit cumbersome with 3-4 layers of tortilla. Did not stick together. Chipotle-hickory syrup was more sweet that sweat. French dip was served with Swiss cheese and a red wine au jus. Beef brisket lacked enough beef flavor and the Swiss cheese and red wine au jus further fought with whatever beef flavor was there. Broad selection of been on tap and nice friendly service.
