A special night at a special restaurant that could not have been better! The setting, the atmosphere, the service, and most importantly, the meal were all 5 stars. LAuberge Chez Francois is well deserving of the accolades it receives. Without question, if you are looking for a memorable night in the Washington DC area, look no further than LAuberge!

The food was excellent. We started with the beef cheeks (very good) and mushroom crepe (outstanding), then the house salad (outstanding) and Caesar salad (very good), then the rack of lamb (outstanding) and halibut (very good). We had the plum tart and bread pudding for dessert, and both were excellent. The bill for this plus a glass of wine and a glass of beer was $210 before tip. Service was good but not as good as the food--there was a 10-15 minute lag between when we were seated and when we got the menu and another 10 minutes or so between when we put down our menus and when our waiter came to take our dinner order, and the same before we could order dessert. The atmosphere is very nice, and the noise level was fine when we arrived at 6:30, but by 8:00 or so the restaurant was completely full and conversation was a bit difficult. All in all, highly recommended for a special occasion.

We have frequented this restaurants for years, but this is the first meal we have had since Jacques succeeded his father. Some "old times" may complain the food is not the same, but when viewed in terms of service, favors, and quality is is as good or better.

If you have a discerning palate the food is unbelievable in its subtle combination of discreet components, nothing overpowers or distracts from the fresh main ingredient. Each course was spot on.

We both had fish courses, and were amazed by by the freshness and favors of our entrees. This pleasure continues all the way from the beginning to the desserts.

Our discussion in the car back to our hotel was where had we had as good or better meal this year. We both agreed only in Sweden and Edinburgh were the only meals that could compete, it is far more convenient and less expensive to travel to LAuberge Chez Francois.

Great experience, great food. This well known place in Great Falls is worth a visit even if only to be in the bar area.

Enjoyed our anniversary celebration at this lovely restaurant in a suburban, idyllic woods setting with self parking. Attentive service throughout the meal by our lead server, Simon, and rest of staff/management.

We started off with one house specialty cocktail, a sparkling wine with chambord & a dry vodka martini. Simon explained all the specials and gave his personal recommendations for the evening's fixed prixe menu. The chef's amuse was hot pea soup, a tasty, Fall delight to start our evening meal. Our 1st course consisted of mussels w/bernaise sauce & crepes w/mushrooms, both great. For the 2nd course, we had the duck salad ($+) and the house salad. Definitely would order the duck salad again, if available. The sorbet of the day, a spicy cider, cleansed our palate before our main entrees. Our main entrees selected were the scallops & shrimp plus the "authentic" Dover sole (flown in nearly daily from England). Both entrees were accompanied with a generous helping of an organic vegetable medley, some vegetables coming from the restaurant's very own garden. Also with the entree came a special chef accompaniment of broccoli w/cheese mousse.

Rather than order in advance any of the decadent dessert souffles or baked Alaska, we opted to order off the included dessert menu: the dark chocolate tart and the almond layered pastry cake. Especially enjoyable was the taste of marzipan layered in the almond pastry cake. In addition, we were treated by the chef's anniversary treat of meringue (best meringue ever had) with vanilla ice cream, & decorated with kiwi and raspberry coulis. To top it off we were presented with homemade chocolate truffles and wafer cookies.

Although we are past patrons, we always learn something new each time we visit the restaurant. A lot of pride is evident the moment you step foot into this restaurant by its welcoming ambiance, its long time staff (Simon: an employee of 8 years, with others much longer) and the excellent extensive, familiar menu with daily/seasonal specials.
