The restaurant is located in a very upscale suburban area. Set in a very wooded area with nice views from a window. The food is French and very well presented. Our last visit was for brunch. A nice selection of quiches and always a special. I had the bourguignon, which was perfect. Other had a quiches or salads. For dessert we shared a bake Alaska, you have to order that when you place your regular meal order. The drinks were well prepared with a good selection of wines. reservations are a must.
We went to this restaurant before my wife had to go Gluten Free as a last hurrah. It was fantastic!!! All of the food was very well made and delicious.
A special night at a special restaurant that could not have been better! The setting, the atmosphere, the service, and most importantly, the meal were all 5 stars. LAuberge Chez Francois is well deserving of the accolades it receives. Without question, if you are looking for a memorable night in the Washington DC area, look no further than LAuberge!
The food was excellent. We started with the beef cheeks (very good) and mushroom crepe (outstanding), then the house salad (outstanding) and Caesar salad (very good), then the rack of lamb (outstanding) and halibut (very good). We had the plum tart and bread pudding for dessert, and both were excellent. The bill for this plus a glass of wine and a glass of beer was $210 before tip. Service was good but not as good as the food--there was a 10-15 minute lag between when we were seated and when we got the menu and another 10 minutes or so between when we put down our menus and when our waiter came to take our dinner order, and the same before we could order dessert. The atmosphere is very nice, and the noise level was fine when we arrived at 6:30, but by 8:00 or so the restaurant was completely full and conversation was a bit difficult. All in all, highly recommended for a special occasion.
