We used to come here regularly, then didn't for almost ten years when other restaurants in the DC area took precedence. We returned today for a special wine tasting and four course lunch and were so very very happy to be back.

The wine tasting was generous and delicious, but the four course lunch was superlative. had the chive crepe and my husband had the beef cheeks. While his was just a smidge salty the cheeks were delicious and the mushrooms accompanying my crepe were divinely rich and satisfying. Salades for next course, lovely. Cassoulet for his main course and sole for mine. Both superb. And our two souffle desserts were absolutely delicious.

Whatever has kept us away for over a year will do so no longer, and we'll be back again soon. An absolutely delightful afternoon of food and drink.

My fiancé and I were so tired of spending a lot of money on mediocre NY eve dinners. I was fortunate to have dinner at L’Auberge in early December. I was so impressed with the service and very fortunate to get in for NY Eve. We arrived a bit early and were immediately seated. Andrew was our server and he was amazing. We never had to ask for anything. We could not tell they were booked at full capacity. The food was outstanding. Chez François greeted guests and even signed my cookbook. It was an amazing evening and well worth the money that was spent. The tradition continues. Can’t wait to return.

We went there for lunch to celebrate our Anniversary. Could not get in for dinner until too late (8:30 PM).after being seated at a window table, we were offered a small glass of a really delicious split pea soup. A very nice gesture. I had the triple salmon appetizer, Caesar Salad, Bouillabasse, and a Baked Alaska dessert. All were just superb. The bouillabasse had shrimp, scallops, mussels, salmon, and potato. They were all tender and in a very tasty sauce.
What my wife had, according to her, was equally as good.
L’Auberge Chez Francois is my favorite special occasion restaurant. The service is always fast and discreet. The setting and ambiance are second to none. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. This was the four course fixed price lunch. It is $44/person but with a surcharge for the Baked Alaska. Not inexpensive, but worth the price in my opinion.
If you have a special occasion give it a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Few words are needed when a dining experience is so close to perfection. Venue, service, atmosphere... but above all the food! Undoubtedly, the best French Restaurant in the area, with no concessions to experimentalism or prevailing fashions. Consistent over the years, always a memorable experience.
