We have been twice now to this bar, once for lunch and once for dinner. First of all, it is a very worthwhile addition to the dining options in Middleburg. It appears to be busy most of the time with a varied crowd. A little on the noisy side but it is to be expected since it appears to be a meeting place for many. The upstairs area, while open to the main floor is quieter. The food is good and well prepared; we had oysters of course and the trout was excellent. Good selection of beers. The service is uneven, some are good, some seem to be a little lost.

First, the food is good, worthy of more stars than this review gives it, and the Oyster Bar is a welcome addition to the area. But...Go for a good meal in a very loud restaurant but don't expect Happy Hour deals to be honored.
The advertised Happy Hour isn't very happy unless you get a seat at one of 3 designated tables. If they are occupied you may not order the specials offered from 3-6:30, even though you are seated 2 feet away. So the same $5 cocktail & $5 appetizer is $20 at the very next table, which is still reasonable but suddenly feels overpriced. If that policy were restricted to the bar it might make sense but still feels stingy. One of those tables is upstairs, so not appropriate for some diners, including members of our party. Our group was too large to join a partial "eligible" table, which certainly started our happy hour gathering on a sour note. The server didn't improve our experience. She was unhelpful about other issues as well and even delivered our checks while we were still eating, without even offering dessert.
Upstairs seating is fine but the grease smell from the fryers just below can get a little strong. And the whole place is incredibly noisy, even when it's not crowded.
This was not my first visit here and I'm sure I'll return but now every visit will start with the story of the poor service and the sad Happy Hour.
I hope they can improve on the hospitality issues because I like the food!

We went here to celebrate an 84th birthday. It was our first time here and our birthday guest really likes raw oysters, so we chose King Street Oyster Bar based on some other reviews. The quality and freshness of the oysters was outstanding...quite a selection too! In our case an oyster from Massachusetts was selected (Sandy Neck). Wow...really good. We also tried their blue crab dip appetizer, the fried oyster and fried Ipswich clams entrees and for dessert the doughnut holes and white chocolate bread pudding...all really, really good. The fried oysters and clams were perfectly fried and the coleslaw is unique and flavorful (not too sweet as many coleslaws tend to be). The only negative would be the fries--they were not the best we've had at a restaurant...the best we've had were double fried and crispier...but these were still good. Good selection of wine and beers. The service and staff were excellent. This is a small place and may be busy, or you may share a table perhaps, but it is worth the trip for a wonderful meal of high quality that won't break the bank either. We will definitely come back!!

A dozen oysters, a beer and a lobster roll. Very good all around. The oysters looked and tasted fresh, the beer was cold and lobster roll cery tasty.

Had dinner with a group of approximately 12 ppl. The service was excellent. We were seated upstairs at a large "buddy" table. Great bar selection and also a very extensive food menu. I went with the Oyster Po' Boy which was delicious and came with excellent hand-cut french fries. Located in the center of the downtown area and very convenient to Salamander Resort which is where we were staying.
