My husband and I debated how to rate this hotel, so we thought we would lay out the pluses and minuses of the hotel. For background, we were travelling around Belgium and had trouble finding a place on the weekend for us and the kids and the dog. We didn't really have Durbuy as a destination, but selected it because it was generally in the right region and had a room available.

Pluses:
--The town was absolutely amazing. We had no idea what to expect, and we thought it was absolutely charming when we drove into the village. We stayed longer than expected.
--The hotel is right in the center of it all.
--Rooms had a nice seating area (with a pull out sofa) and a separate bedroom which gave us quite a bit of space.
--The house has a kitchen which we could use, which was quite welcome after a day on the road.
--The woman who greeted us was extremely warm and helpful and we agree with others that she made you feel at home. She drove with us to show us where to park the car (for free).
--This was really more of a house than a hotel, I think there were 3 rooms, no more than 4.
-- All in all, we thought it was perfectly reasonable for our one night stay.

Some minuses-
--We arrived later (around 8pm) and there was no one there (as it is more of a house than a hotel). I was a little nervous but called the number of my confrmation and the owner quickly responded and came to greet me. To her defense, she had tried to call me earlier in the day to see when I would arrive, but I didn't get the message. I would recommend you establish an arrival time with them.
-- We stayed on the top floor- the steps to the top floor were extremely narrow. My kids (and the dog) had difficulty navigating them. For families with children, or the elderly, you would want to stay on the first floor-- the stairs to the second floor seemed pretty standard. It was the top floor that was the problem.
-- While the room was big, quite charming, and had everything you might need, the furniture didn't seem particularly sturdy- the table and the shelves were extremely wobbly.

Room tip: We stayed on the top floor- the steps to the top floor were extremely narrow. My kids (and the dog) had difficulty navigating them. For families with children, or the elderly, you would want to stay on the first floor-- the stairs to the second floor seemed pretty standard. It was the top floor that was the problem.

We travelled all the way down northern Europe and had heard about the magnificient landscapes of the South of BELGIUM : the Ardennes, Bouillon, La Roche,...

We found most reviews AND activities in the Durbuy area, the place belongs to the Pays de Famenne.

We just loved driving there as we basically kept following rivers and valleys.

We are extremely demanding as customers as living in the US and would never settle for bad accommodation or service.

We booked the stay via booking.com and had no single reason to complain.

The lady that welcomed us was nice and extremely client-friendly.

She showed us the house and we felt "home" as this is no hotel but a house that a family just renovated!

I believe they did the renovation work as if they would live in there!

We just loved it, wandered around the lovely tiniest town in Belgium and its surroundings.

Well, to cut a long story short : this is Simply THE easiest AND most Cost-effective place to visit beautiful South of Belgium.

This was the only one we found for going with kids around the Ardenes.

We had the room on the second floor. The steps are dangerous for children.

In summary, the forniture is antic but enough if you only expend time for taking a shower and sleeping. On the other hand, the situation of the building is cool and the shared kitchen is very usefull.

What a find! Stayed here for three nights - the accommodation is clean, comfortable and spacious and right in the centre of the most picturesque little town I think I have ever seen. The rooms are in a house, with each suite taking up a floor and generally consist of a sitting room (usually with sofa bed), separate bedroom and shower room. There is also a shared kitchen that is well equipped with a large fridge, microwave, cooker, coffee maker and kettle etc. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful and provides access to nearby private parking (the little lanes do not accomodate traffic but we were able to drop our bags off before parking). It is great if you like being in the centre of things, but also being able to be independant. Next door is a lovely deli/bakery, perfect for getting yourself a fresh baguette for breakfast! Durbuy is simply stunning (as our some of the restaurant prices!!!!!) and well worth a visit!
The only down part to the accomodation are the beautiful wooden floors that don't dampen footsteps up and down the stairs, but as there are only three suites, it is probably not really a problem.
Overall, we loved the place and I am sure we will return and we have already recommended it to friends and family.
