We had heard about this restaurant from a woman we met in Positano, who was from Agerola. We asked her to recommend a typical, local restaurant.
So, it became part of our quest to make it to Da Nicola, to meet the owner, Gilda, and to eat the local food.
We went for lunch, with no reservation and were seated immediately, by, none other, Gilda. She was very warm and gracious and offered to surprise us with a selection but my son wanted pizza and caprese salad, so we choose for ourselves. We also met her sister Rita, whom she introduced as the best pizza maker.
The tomatoes were delicious! The cheeses exceptional. Good pizza. Good pasta.
Simple decor. Casual. Reasonable prices.
Filled with Italian locals. Didn't hear any English... No photos of the food on the menu...a sign we weren't in a tourist trap. : )
After lunch, Gilda was recommending local sites to see. When she found out we had walked to her and didn't have a car, she was offering to drive us!
Thank you Gilda!
