After some car hire issues at the airport we arrived a little later than anticipated, however, we were made very welcome by the host dispite our lateness. The apartment was exactly as described, clean, very modern with stunning views!, and the most comfortable bed we've had at any place we've stayed!
We felt that the communal area was underused by just the 2 of us, would have been great for a large family group booking both apartments, defininitly a thought for a future group holiday!
We would suggest hiring a car as the local restaurants were limited, although one worth recommending is the Regional Kebabs at Frango da Guiia2 and the cafe next door for afternoon coffee & a cake! We researched the area for top places to visit before our holiday, although it would have been useful to have some maps and leaflets etc. in the apartment as with other places we've stayed, just a suggestion. One walk worth doing is the Calheta, Rabacal & 25 Fontes walk, stunning views especially the 25 waterfalls, they were beautiful....a suggestion to wear good walking shoes that you don't mind getting dirty! :).....
Some great restaurants to chose from in Funchal, The Santa Maria do a fantastic pizza.. Ooo & a chicken pesto risotto was to die for...Went there twice! Restaurante Motzart for a finer dining experience, food & service was fantastic.
Cable Car ride at Funchal showed the views perfectly, although was sad to see the true devastation of the recent fire they had there taking out so many homes.
Overall we loved our stay in Madeira, with a perfect base at Cassa Do Cedro! Would highly recommend it.
