We enjoyed 3 wonderful nights here. We appreciate the beautiful room (great view of the Douro) and comfortable bed. At reception Michel was welcoming, friendly and helpful. They have a very nice selection of area wines for sale. Breakfast was very good, beautifully displayed and continually organized. The entire facility is kept very clean.

This is a lovely restored older hotel that sits on the Douro river. The rains were intense the week we were there so the river was at flood stage, rather spectacular. The room we had was on the river and boardwalk, had a great little patio off the french doors. The bedding was fabulous. The breakfasts were beautiful. The staff for the 2 nights we were there were all helpful and friendly. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: ask for the river view rooms.

Great hotel in a great location. The Douro river is just great, the view from my hotel was just fantastic, breakfast was tremendous also. Great experience in this beautifull region with lots of things to do. Enjoyed the stay here.

Having arrived from the US in Madrid and then driving to Pinhao, needless to say we were a bit tired. However, the warm welcome (with port) and a brilliant dinner set us up for a relaxing enjoyable stay. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Our friends were traveling from California and the jet lag caused one of them to sleep past breakfast. They were so kind to make her up a lovely breakfast to take on our boat ride. We had dinner at the fabulous restaurant our first night. We did the tasting menu with wine pairing. Both were great and plentiful! One friend doesn't eat seafood, so if it was on the tasting menu they brought him out something different. We all loved it. The hotel is also very conveniently located for the train and the boat dock is right out in front of the hotel. Rooms were comfortable and clean. I wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

A hotel with amazing views of the Duoro - this is the place to stay in the area. Ensure you have a river facing room & it is sublime - the sunsets are to be enjoyed, glass of port in hand on the balcony. The room itself is spacious (the corner room which we had was charming & slightly larger than the others with space for a full couch facing the river).

The hotel is charming & staff are attentive & well trained. Breakfast is excellent - good variety & fresh. The restaurant proper though is a disappointment - very pricey & ordinary. We had far better meals at the 2 casual eateries by the dock (both excellent local cuisine at a fraction of the cost).

They have a pool which is outdoor & not heated. So probably only usable during the hotter summet months.

Overall, our group of 4 enjoyed our stay & would recommend this as a base while you explored the Duoro wineries & region.
