I stayed at the Sumba from 28 September for a week with my 85 year old Mother. We didn't have any special needs or requirements and so did not require any special service from anyone. However, ALL the staff at this hotel, from the bars to the Restaurants and reception were all very pleasant.

I have to give a special shout out to Ana Isabel in the restaurant, who worked very hard every breakfast and evening and who made me smile! Thanks Ana :)

Just back from fabulous holiday at Sumba for the third time.Staff very friendly, food excellent with plenty of dishes to choose from. Rooms are clean and mine had a super view of sea. Loads of sunbeds & umbrellas to choose from on the outside terrace at the swimming pool and there is also an indoor pool to choose if weather is bad.
Activities are on offer if you feel energetic and afternoon tea with cake is on offer every afternoon or try a cocktail or two.
The beach is just out the back door and the long flat promenade is ideal for a walk after dinner. Shops are a short walk away.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter.

We visited in sep 15 really nice hotel clean all staff are very friendly but seem to favour the German guests more. close to the beach nice walk down the promenade to calla bona bus stop outside hotel good bus service to other parts of the island shopping and bars a five minute walk away with a few British bars
Minus points
90 per cent Germans in the hotel food was very bland and repeated a lot entertainment not very good and in german
But all in all a good hotel to stay in a special mention to the little spanish lady who cleaned our room every day 504 she was brilliant I would stay again but the selection of food needs looking at

This is a good hotel if you want to be close to the beach and walking distance from the center but still in a quiet area. Rooms are clean (bathrooms recently refurbished - very nice, a bit small, though). We had a perfect view from ours - if you can, ask for the last room towards the beach. Food was nice, though adjusted to German guests (I'd say 90% of all guests were German pensioners). Service was good as well (fairly managed to keep up during peak times in the restaurant). What one must keep in mind - it is a place for the mass "all inclusive tourism" - other than that, I recommend. P.S. Wi-fi is against a fee - one thing Western Europe should learn to eliminate as it's quite ridiculous.
