“A Piece Of Pirate Booty...”

Captain Cline's Pirate Ghost Ride
Attraction details
Reviewed 8 May 2016

Our last visit here was actually in April 2015. It's a fun short ride through mostly pirate-themed scenery (not sure why there was a dinosaur, but it's all in fun). The very young (under 10) might get startled and/or upset from the random surprises and dark atmosphere, but there is nothing gruesome. There is a live actor who pops in and out, and they seem smart enough to gauge the intensity according to the youngest on the ride. They may even offer some pirate booty at the end (some gold-colored trinkets). There's no dips or ups and downs. This is classic old-school carnival stuff, with interesting moving props. It's short and sweet and a great rainy day thing-to-do.
The only thing I fear is, as of our return trip in April 2016, we could not find it. I seriously hope it is under renovation or being relocated. This, along with places like the Mirror Maze, 3D Fun House, and Nightmare Mansion are things that bring memorable charm to the Virginia Beach Atlantic Avenue strip.

PROS:
-Fun experience
-Rainy day activity

CONS:
-Short (approximately 5 minutes)
-A little pricey (look for coupons at your hotel)

My grandson and I rode this and really enjoyed it. He wanted to ride it again. Not too scary for an 8 year old.

This was a fun time enjoyed the indoor amusement ride and pirate stalker. Would recommend to anyone who likes semi-scary and comical rides.

The ride was actually fun! I was a bit skeptical but actually enjoyed it! It's silly but entertaining! There was a guy dressed like a pirate who jumped out and scared me then went to scare my boyfriend but my boyfriend scared him first. It was pretty funny but the pirate wound up getting the last laugh! It's a bit pricey for a couple minute ride but it's vacation and the beach so it was expected!

Mixes pirates, ghosts, fantasy in a "dark ride" with moving displays, lots of black lights, some special effects (ex. moving figures, air jets) but no drops. A bit pricey at $9/ride but good for roadside attraction fans, older kids. Live actors after 7 PM. Most nearby parking costs $10. One block from ocean. The Cline in the name refers to Mark Cline of Natural Bridge, VA, and Foamhenge fame.
