No one would think the unassuming location of this restaurant would hold such a gem. What a marvelous French restaurant. We had reservations for four on a Friday evening. The place was busy but our table was ready on time. Our escargot appetizer was delicious. We all ordered different main meals and every one of them was amazing. They have a terrific wine list. The restaurant setting is perfect for the cuisine. We will be going back.

Last year on Valentine’s day we had the luxury of dining at the French Laundry. When you have spent the most romantic day of the year at one of the best restaurants in the world, expectations are high. Dare I say that our experience at Bistro l’ hermitage.com won our hearts as the best overall dining experience. While you really can’t compare the artwork of the food at the French laundry to anything else, the Bistro was more charming, cheerful, welcoming and the food had a homey feel; almost as if someone’s French grandmother was busy in the kitchen preparing our meal. It was a pre-fixed menu so we cannot comment on the breath of the full menu (we will go back and offer that review as well) but I can tell you what we did enjoy.

The atmosphere was rose-colored with small intimate tables, amble noise level, French music playing and waiters dressed in shirt and tie. Some tables had cozy cloth benches which were nice. There is a surprisingly large U shaped bar made of dark wood and exposed brick and ceiling beams. The bathrooms were clean and charming, with plenty of space and a fun bright red toilet and sink.

I started with the tiny purses of pastry filled with ricotta cheese and minced pears, covered in a silky garlic cream sauce. It was sweet, perfectly cooked pasta, savory and rich; I enjoyed every bite. My fiancé has the fried oysters with an avocado paste and a light balsamic drizzle. I can’t tell you which I enjoyed more because they were both totally delicious. For our main entrées we had the NY strip, cooked a perfect med-rare with a red wine sauce and the Veal Pillard. A thin sliced veal that was lightly breaded with a madeira sauce. Both terrific. For desert he had the chocolate molten cake and while good, the vanilla ice cream our shined the cake and I had the creame brulee. While a nice flavor the top needed a thicker sugar crust. It could have been that because they were so busy, preparation time was challenging for them. The place was packed!

We splurged on a bottle of Chateau Pedesclaux Pauillac 2011 which is expensive but very special and delicious.

Thank you Bistro L’Hermitage for welcoming us so graciously; we will return soon!

This place is amazing!! I've been here for brunch and dinner, both exquisite! It's tucked in a little private area off the main road and if you don't look close enough you will probably miss it. I drove past this place for years not knowing what it was. At first glance, you're not sure what type of restaurant it is. Then you walk inside and see how amazingly cute, quirky and unique it is. Its very cozy and inviting. The food is amazing (a bit pricey but worth it). Thumbs up!

This has been our go to restaurant for special occasions or celebrations for years. The food is always so delicious and the service is over the top. We have been treated like royalty every time we go there. Atmosphere, excellent food and being totally pampered and waited on through out the meal just make it an experience you can't find at a chain restaurant. A rare treat to have right here in Prince William county.
