Description: The Tides Tavern offers the greatest house-made food and finest beverages in the western hemisphere, but only to persons over 21 years of age. Please be prepared to show I.D. The building that houses the Tides Tavern was built by Axel Uddenberg in 1910 and served the area as a general store. Located next to the "People's Dock," the town's only public ferry landing, it was called the West Side Mercantile. From that time until the present it has had a series of owners and has been several businesses. Run down and in a state of disrepair, the building was bought by Peter Stanley in 1973. After an extensive and ambitious rebuilding project, the Tides opened it's doors to the public on Saturday June 2, 1973.

The Tides enjoyed great status as a local tavern with good food. Apparently they took themselves too seriously. They now want over $13 for a pitcher of beer, and if they give a crap, they'll also get your order right. Even the Gig Harbor locals are declining to go there.

The food is always tasty and hardy! The tables are too close together to have a quiet conversation, though. Parking is very limted.

Always has great food no matter what you get. Fun atmosphere, lots of beer selections and the deck is really nice in the summer

We had 3 kinds of fish and chips, cod, copper river salmon, and halibut. The copper river salmon was in just the right amount of batter, it was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I had the two piece. I think a 3 piece would have fed two of us. We also had oysters which were fresh and tasty. I had sweet potato fries which were perfectly cooked. The service was good. We shared an ice cream brownie for dessert. As you can see the view was spectacular.
