Tamarack truly has a very fine and large selection of fine art, craft (woodwork, quilts, musical instruments, glass, etc.), music, books, wine, and foods from West Virginia- at all price points. They also have artists studios where you can watch artisans creating their works. We have an Inn in West Virginia (the Elkhorn Inn), and we always encourage our guests to take the time and spend at least an hour- if not more- at Tamarack! The coffee is great, too, and the cafeteria is run by the Greenbrier- and while it is a cafeteria, it's a Very Good cafeteria- there is usually trout and fried green tomatoes on the menu and it's always been quite good!

If you drive through West Virginia stop at TAMARACK near Beckley. Exit I64/77 and look for the orange roofed round iconic building. Park and enjoy the local sculpture displayed as you approach the entrance.
The West Virginia craft products are arranged in the circular hall so that it is a relaxing stroll. The Greenbrier cafeteria is well used by travelers and locals alike. Handmade glass ware, wooden bowls, furniture, fabric, smithy products, and artwork are some of the item available. Master craftsmen can be seen working too.

We stopped in for dinner and I got the fish tacos. They were horrible. Horrible. My husband got pork chops and his were good. The buttermilk coconut pie was amazing.

Tamarack is a DO! DO make the stop, DO browse to see the spectacular WV artists’ and craftsmen’s displays, DO some shopping and DO have a fabulous meal and treat yourself to something special. You can take a few minutes or as long as you like. There is something to represent all of the WV art and culture, to see and taste, read, watch and listen to. And DO take something of WV home with you. Great places at Tamarack!

We have been to Tamarack several times over the years as we are traveling the West Virginia Turnpike. It is a very nice respite from your travels; you can do it justice in about an hour. It has reasonably priced dining; we prefer the cafeteria style option, with a variety of choices that you can see before you order. The West Virginia crafts are outstanding and most reasonable; on this trip we selected a handmade basket purse, beautifully crafted by a local artist, for only forty dollars. There are jams, candies, woodwork ... the full array. There is also an art gallery which changes selections; this time it was West Virginia natural scenes and very well done. The wait staff in the shops and cafeteria are efficient and courteous.
