the menu is simple. the flavors are authentic Mexican. if you've eaten Mexican food in Texas or southern California - I have - you will appreciate the flavors and generous servings at Rio Grande. Their salsa is full of cilantro

I've been going to this restaurant for years. Rio always offers good Mexican food. Nothing exceptional but it is reasonable priced. The wait staff is always nice and you get good service. The issue I have is with the location. This part of town has gotten very sketchy. Parking is bad and the walk away from the mall is uncomfortable. I would really like this better if they were in a better location.

Its down and alley which makes it a little to hard to find but that's part of the fun, a search for good food. We went in about 730 on a Sunday and i was a little nervous as we were the only guests, but i realized it was late for Charleston! We were quickly seated and the drink orders were taken, all the beers, mixed drinks, sangria and wines are very good and reasonable priced. The waiter was a bit of a comedian, he wore a Sombrero and made the evening fun, not corny, just a good sense of humor. Plenty of chips and delicious salsa and the food came very quickly. The portions were a little on the large size and they were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the search for this place. There are not many restaurants in Charleston i will go back to, but this is one of them.

This place in across the mall on a small side street. It is a decent size authentic Mexican restaurant. The margartias were good. The food was pretty good as well. Not the best but good. You get a nice portion for the prices. Quesadillas were awesome. And I loved the fresh chips. Didn't care too much for the salsa but do get the guacamole. Worth stopping by if you are in the area.
