This was our first visit to the island and fell in love with it. We had a cozy cottage with a gas fireplace and a beautiful view. The staff was very accommodating, and our dinners in the dining room were great.

Room Tip: Choose a cottage with a lake view, very pretty!

My husband and I spent a couple nights in Shore Lodge 2 for our honeymoon. It was a stunning room, with a wall of windows that overlooked the lake, a fireplace, king size bed, sitting area, and jacuzzi. We ate delicious food in the dining room and had tasty cocktails at the bar. We took advantage of the game room, playing several rounds of pool, and played lots of lawn games. Checking in, out, and getting to and from the island was easy, too.

We were a bit apprehensive about going to Stout’s Island Lodge as we thought “what if the website isn’t true to the reality of place”. We didn’t need to be concerned as the lodge, our room - Harry 2, the food, surroundings and especially the employees were fantastic. What a beautiful escape from the busyness of life. At 1st not having a TV or wi-fi available in our room seemed very strange but in the peace and quiet my husband and I found out why we fell in love with each other again - wow!! Our 21st anniversary will always be special in our minds because of our wonderful experience on Stout’s Island. Thank you for offering such a exceptional lodge!!

Room Tip: Each room/suite is beautiful and well thought out -

Let me start by saying that Stouts Island prides itself on being rustic & isolated. By that I mean to say it's not a party island atmosphere. The vibe is very couples-retreat, i.e. no televisions in the rooms and Wi-Fi is limited to one part of the lodge. There is a decent amount of outdoor recreation as expected with a lake location but felt a bit like a throwback to scouting days with canoes and kayaks. We loved the location for the quiet atmosphere and solitude, however if you prefer watching movies on a screen over lounging by a bonfire this probably isn't your scene. Cell phone reception was fine so you still are connected to the world but leave your phone in the room and you are a world away.

Our only real complaint was we felt the quality and variety at the restaurant could have been improved. The setting was wonderful for a great dining experience but the food just felt a little flat for the price. Additionally the single bar on property was not well stocked and poorly staffed. You can bring your own food & alcohol to enjoy in the rooms/cabins which is what we did most of the time. You are on an island so plan ahead for what you might need.

Room Tip: Main lodge is beautiful but you really can't go wrong anywhere on the island.

Dear aqua2008,

Thank you for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed the atmosphere that Stout's provides--quiet, seclusion, and the sense that the only thing you absolutely have to do is relax and enjoy. I am sorry that the dining room and bar did not live up to your expectations (or ours) and hope we can improve that for future visits. Otherwise, as you stated, there is a mini fridge in every room for snacks.

We hope to see you again next season!

All the best,
